46. Awareness IS Detachment

Awareness clear and pure is nothing

But seeing the world as nothing

Other than the perceiver.

 

Mind, indrawn and planted in the heart,

Deeming this world as a mere seeming,

Not an object, is detachment.

 

The Garland of Guru's sayings or Guru Vachaka Kovai is by Sri Muruganar, who

before and after his Self Realisation, through Sri Bhagavan's Grace, recorded

Sri Ramana's utterances and set them in Tamil verse. This poetic translation by

Prof. Swaminathan is in free verse, and published by Ramanasramam.
