The heroic Guru with his sword

Of Knowledge slays the demon mind.

Unless his grace ends once and for all

The monkey-tricks of our truant mind

We cannot see the wondrous dance

Of true Awareness in the Heart.

The Garland of Guru's Sayings or Guru Vachaka Kovai is by Sri Muruganar, who

before and after his Self Realisation, through Sri Bhagavan's Grace, recorded

Sri Ramana's utterances and set them into Tamil verse. This poetic translation

by Prof. Swaminathan is in free verse form, and is

published by Ramanasramam.
