That is the surest way to handicap oneself,†Ramana Maharshi answers, “this

burdening of one’s mind with the fear of failure and the thought of one’s

failings.†The greatest error of a man is to think that he is weak by nature,

evil by nature. What are weak and evil are his habits, his desires and thoughts

but not him.

The devotee says – It is easy for You to attain and keep spiritual serenity in

this jungle retreat, where there is nothing to disturb or distract You

Ramana Maharshi answers – When the goal is reached, when you know the Knower,

there is no difference between living in a house in London and living in the

solitude of a jungle.

Dear Alan,

I feel the which we feel when we are in seclusion like in a

cave is not ours, that is why such silence is not born out of richness

of experience and is easily disturbed when we exposed to a market

place. When silence continues even in market place, then it is true

and goal is reached.Such person can remain anywhere whatsoever the

situation.Such silence remains as a deep substratum of our being.

As Lord Krishna says " Be in the world yet beyond it " .World has many

things to give,it gives us challanges and helps us to grow,it gives

opportunity to test ourselves. If we escape from the world we will be

missing all these opportunities.Life is an infinite expanding energy

and there is no fun of ecaping from it in the name of some spiritual

descipline.

Thank you all,

Pranams.

Dear Dr. Raju,

Thank you. How true. Each one of us is guided by the Sat-Guru in our Hearts as to when to retire and when to engage with the so called world.

Yours in Bhagavan,

Whether we like it or not we need to expend our prarabdha karma .. we are naturally driven by prakriti to fulfill our wordly obligations..hence we may train ourselves to perform our wordly actions as an offering to God .. .All the while remaining rooted to the ONE PURPOSE in our life...
