Guest guest
Dear Friends in the Sangha: Let me introduce you to John. When I was in NYC in 1978, I was taking classes with Yogi Gupta and was going to be initiated by him. There, I met a very wonderful and spiritually mature person named Barbara. Barbara told me about Chitrabhanu-ji and took me to visit Chitrabhanu-ji at the Jain Meditation Center. Subsequently, I decided to study with Chitrabhanu-ji and he became my teacher. I called him Gurudev and still do. John had a similar experience. He was taking classes with Yogi Gupta also in the 1970s and met Barbara there and Barbara introduced him to the Jain Center and Gurudev and his family. Barbara was a beautiful person. At the time I met her, she was in remission from cancer. About a year or so after Barbara took me to the meditation center where I met with Gurudev, her cancer came back and soon she passed away. Upon hearing from John, I felt a spontaneous and an immediate connection and we spoke soon after on the phone. Speaking with John, I was filled with joy, the type of joy one feels at finding a long lost friend. I had never mentioned Barbara in any of my writing before but John knew who she was because she was the same person who had taken him also to the Jain Meditation Center. This was over 30 years ago. Over the years, we are all helped by so many people that make our spiritual path a little smoother. Barbara was one of those angels. I had not thought about Barbara for many years but her memory came back when John mentioned her. I feel a great gratitude to the friends, sages, teachers, and angels who help us along the way. In the end, I should mention the following practical advice that is generally given. Please do not include personal information such as telephones, etc. on the Internet in an open list. It is better to give that information privately to people who need it. Once private information is given out on the Internet, it can spread quickly.
