Guest guest
Hello Thankyou for the beautiful messages of love of animals and all the other simple things that Ramana said and did. I recall reading somewhere that Ramana declared himself outside of any binding to caste, etc, etc. I am wondering if it is known to others and could be posted? Thankyou Vrunda

Guest guest
Dear Vrunda , Please find below an excerpt from an article published in the book Ramana Smriti . Bhagavan had discarded his brahminical thread after realisation and treated all beings equally. love ramesh Excerpt from the article Sri Ramanasramam by Lokkamal " Very often we found ourselves caught in the trap of outmoded customs and conventions that discriminated against the less fortunate, especially women and the lower castes. Bhagavan was strict in treating all equally. He often said, “The Ashram does not see any differences. There are no untouchables here. Those who do not like it may eat elsewhere. At Skandashramam there used to be the same trouble with mother. She would not give food to the man who brought us firewood. She would insist that I eat first, then she would eat and then the woodcutter could have the remnants left outside the Ashram. I would refuse to eat until the man was decently fed. At first she would not yield and would suffer and weep and fast, but I was adamant too. She then saw that she could not have her way in these matters. What is the difference between man and man? Am I a Brahmin and he a pariah? Is it not correct to see only God in all We were all astounded. The rebuke went deep into our hearts. We asked Bhagavan to make our minds clear and our hearts pure so that we would sin no more against God in man. Guest guest
Thankyou so very much to both of you. I work voluntarily in Tamil Nadu now for the past 4+ years among the Arunthathiyar community in the western belt - Salem and Erode district. From time to time, a visitor, Maran also from the Arunthathiyar community but with home in Tiruvannamalai visited the workshops and meetings. We became very good friends and still are. Of course, knowing his home location, I was curious to know what he thought about Ramana. He spoke so highly. Now Maran is a naturally outgoing, warm person who is open and warm about most things. However, his warmth about Ramana came from what he had heard the older people of the village say about him. In one electronic conversation we discussed a little, and I have his words. As always, humbling.
