As, when the sea overflows (the shore) no small creature can raise its head (but is over-borne), so when the consciousness of the Self is in flood the ego-thought cannot arise. (4) (4) A State of Liberation is negatively described as the Egoless State; negative descriptions are the most correct of all possible description, since no positive description is possible (or ever possibly adequate). Verse 232. Therefore there can be no sense of enjoyment for the Jivanmukta (liberated, or sage); this State of purity transcends enjoyment, being freed from the two poles of enjoyment and suffering.
