He has just given us an innocent, curious witness account of the village puja. These village people, whose spiritual consciousness is not yet awakened have their own way of worshipping God. Why criticise their innocent Bhakti? These village folks have nothing impure in their mind when they perform animal sacrifice. According to Lord Krishna, it is the motive behind the actions which really count, and not the actions themselves. We must always pick only what is good and discard what is bad. Why not pick out the Bhakti of these village floks. > rgds, > rajesh > Dear Rajeshji, Namaste Your statement has good points also (that I fully agree with), but I think there is a misunderstanding here. It is not a question of who's " wrong " (Richard or the villagers or Mouna), it is more a question of... tact (the meaning of this word is " adroitness and sensitivity in dealing with others or with difficult issues.) I felt that the posting was off related to this forum and I just pointed this out, and why (by the way, I have no problem taking positions). The whole issue of vegetarianism " ahimsa-based " and ignorance because " spiritual consciousness is not yet awakened " is a completely different topic. And maybe THESE topics like vegetarianism as a sign of spiritual awakening, are the ones really appropriate to be discussed here if you wish, because in that case, the reporting of events like this have a certain context, i.e. how they are related to Self-Enquiry, not just, paraphrasing your own words, the " innocent, curious witness account " of ignorant practices (ignorant since you stated that their " spiritual consciousness is not yet awakened " ). All that being said, if you think I went to an extreme in these matters, I openly apologize and will be more that grateful to accept any obervation in that respect. After all, we are only trying to unravel our own ego here, and since we are not separate from these villagers actions (they ARE us and their actions are our own), it is normal to enquire about them also.
