:) friends, i am reminded of a story which

may be relevant to the discussion...

how mosquito saved humanity

a tale i heard in india tells about the animals general

gathering, in which all animals voiced their complains

against mankind. they spoke about man's cruelty, greed,

unfairness, maltreatment of house animals, etc, etc.

eventually the animals reached a verdict: it was decided to

destroy mankind. and the animal kingdom, united, can do that

easily... it seemed that man's fate was sealed. but then the

mosquito requested the right to speak. (in the animal

kingdom, unlike men's, even the smallest and weakest has a

right of vote - and veto).

" ffffriendsss " , said the mosquito, " what about meeee? your

hide is to toughhhh; human skin is the only one i can

penetrate... if there will be no men, i am destined to die of

hunger. and what about my kiiiiidssss?

plllleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssssseeeeeee, do not carry it

outtttt! do not destroy mankind! " hearing this, the animals

couldn't let it happen; and so, it's the mosquito that

prevented mankind's annihilation...

thank you, andreas. " the giver should be thankful "

as they say in india... i heard this story during

a period of self-imposed complete ahimsa exercise,

in which i desisted harming and driving away bugs

and even mosquitos. as a result, they covered my

nearly exposed body (i was living in a little

abandoned temple on the bank of thungabadra river

at the time). it was told by one of the wandering

sadhus who stayed with me a while...
