Anandamayi Ma's Words

(From the book "Matri Kripa Hi Kevalam" recorded by Krishnananda Brahmachari)

Q: How can we fully realize God?

Ma: If you will weep tears for God you will find Him.

Q: I cannot cry.

Ma: Then keep company with those that can! (All break into laughter)

Q: Why do we feel attracted to temporal objects and not to the eternal objects?

Ma: This is God's Lila (Play). It is He alone Who is also in the form of "Vranti" (illusion). Nevertheless, what happens is that the mind is degraded by material attachment, while if you feel attracted to the One, then there is joy and liberation. Material attachment implies a return ticket, meaning remaining entangled in the cycle of birth and rebirth. Hence it is advised that you should not stop repeating His Name (japa). It is never to be exhibited to others and maintained in secrecy. As the breathing goes on, keep alive the chanting of the Name. This little girl capriciously insists that you keep company always with the holy Name!

Q: What is the easiest way of chanting the Name?

Ma: Simply by intoning the Name with the rhythm of breathing. By continuous chanting of the Name, the mind becomes concentrated.

Q: Is this termed "Ajapa"?

Ma: No, Pitaji. "Ajapa" (spontaneous or automatic chanting of the Name) is effortless and spontaneous.

Q: How to achieve this state?

Ma: Go on chanting the Name with love and devotion. The Divine Name Itself will spontaneously befall the inevitable (accomplish all things).
