Maine first! I remember the great snows and the beautiful but short

story Harsha. I was born in

Cuba,

my parents were Polish Jewish

immigrants. I was told that I was the smartest kid in school when I sat

still

which was seldom. Finally I was sent to “Jesus, Maria y Jose’ a

very strict Catholic school. Maybe the nun’s were sweet and friendly

but

not with me. I was often made to stand in the courtyard, Finally one

evening I

decided that I would be a ‘good boy’ after all. My grades shot up,

and eventually so did my weight. When I was 11 we emigrated to the US and wound up in Portland, Maine

where a lot of the family already were.
