WORDS FROM SRI ANANDAMAYI MA AND SRI RAMANA MAHARSHI

If anything is to be had — whatsoever, in whatever way — it must be had of Him alone.Man’s bounden duty as a human being is to seek refuge at His Feet.Days glide on; already you have let so many go by; anchored in patience endeavour to pass the few remaining.Every moment belongs to God; Endeavour to keep your mind dedicated to His Feet. God, the Ocean of Mercy, who ever blesses the world, pours out His grace at all times. It is incumbent on man to consider everything that happens to be for the best: ‘For the best’ denoting what is most helpful towards the realization of the Divine, the realization of the fullness of Bliss. The ceaseless, never-ending current of divine Mercy and Compassion ever flows

forth; in that current one should bathe.____________________________All the above is from: Matri Vani Volumn 1

“Know that the wondrous jnana vichara is only for those who have attained purity of mind by softening and melting within. Without this softening and melting away of the mind, brought about by thinking of the feet of the Lord, the attachment to the “I†that adheres to the body will not cease to be.â€

Your trust in God is sufficient to save you from rebirths. Cast all burden on Him. In the Tiruvachagam it is said: “Though I am worse than a dog, youhave graciously undertaken to protect me. This delusion of birth and death is maintained by you. Moreover, am I the person to sift and judge? Am I the Lord here? Oh Maheswara! It is for you toroll me through bodies (by births and deaths) or to keep me fixed at your own feet.†Therefore have faith and that will save you."Talks #30____________________ Sri Bhagavan has selected 10 stanzas from the famous work of Sri Sankara - Sivananda Lahari - describing devotion (bhakti):(1) What is bhakti? "Just as the ankola fruit falling in their original source. This is bhakti. The original source of thoughts is the feet of the Lord, Isvara. Love of His Feet forms bhakti." Talk 448, Talks with Sri Ramana Maharshi.

LITERAL TRANSLATION OF NAMDEV'S " PHILOSOPHY OF THE DIVINE NAME. "

I. The Name permeates densely the sky and the lowest regions and the entire

universe. Who can tell to what depths in the nether regions and to what height

in the heavens It extends? The ignorant undergo the eighty-four lakhs of species

of births, not knowing the essence of things. Namdev says the Name is immortal.

Forms are innumerable, but the Name is all that.

II. The Name itself is form; and form itself is Name. There is no distinction

between Name and form. God became manifest and assumed Name and form. Hence the

Name the Vedas have established. Beware, there is no mantra beyond the Name.

Those who say otherwise are ignorant. Namdev says the Name is Keshava Himself.

This is known only to the loving devotees of the Lord.

III. The all-pervading nature of the Name can only be understood when one

recognises his `I'. When one's own name is not recognised, it is impossible to

get the all-pervading Name. When one knows oneself, then one finds the Name

everywhere. To see the Name as different from the Named creates illusion. Namdev

says, " Ask the Saints. "

IV. None can realise the Name by practice of knowledge, meditation or austerity.

Surrender yourself first at the feet of the Guru and learn to know that `I'

myself is that Name. After finding the source of that `I', merge your

individuality in that one-ness, which is Self-existent and devoid of all

duality. That which pervades beyond dwaita and dwaitatita, that Name has come

into the three worlds. The Name is Para Brahman itself, where there is no action

arising out of duality.

Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj Says:

" If one obtains and relishes the nectar of Lords Feet, the Charan- amrita, the

mind can be conquered. This means that the mind will no longer hold sway over

us; its mastery imposed from childhood will no longer oppress us. This is called

manojaya – victory over the mind. But this is made possible only by His Grace.

Without Grace, we cannot relish the nectar.

However, only a true devotee, a Bhakta, a god, can obtain the Charan –amrita.

But who and what is this devotee? It is nothing else but the consciousness, the

sense of being, the knowledge that `we are', which has appeared unknowingly and

spontaneously in us. The consciousness is the charan-amrita, the nectar of the

Lord's Feet.

The entire cosmos in its vibrant, stirring movement is represented by the

consciousness, the feet of the Lord and the whole universe is the body of the

consciousness. But what is its relationship with all beings? It dwells in the

core of all beings as the knowledge `I Am " the love `to be', the `Charan-

amrita " .

One who drinks the nectar of Lords Feet is a true devotee. He abides in the

knowledge `I Am'. "

Love

Yours in Bhagavan

Ramamohan
