I woke up Wednesday feeling a deep exhaustion and an unexpected sorrow, though I wasn't sure why. I decided not to push in order to send out the poem email. It was only later that morning that I heard about the terrible earthquake in Haiti, and I suspect that's what I was feeling. Maybe it's that I grew up in California, but I often feel major earthquakes in a very physical way, particularly when they bring about such tragedy. My blessings and my heart go out to the people and the land of Haiti.==Now, to today's poem -- a haiku. Here we are at the new year. The light renews itself, the days grow longer. Within the cave of deepest winter, we discover the promise of spring, of life, of light... and enlightenment. But no matter how persistent and patient we are, its majestic arrival somehow startles us!Each day holds its gifts and its surprises, the challenge is to notice them.Lots of love to you all!Ivan Share Your Thoughts on today's poem or my commentary...
