Guest guest
The Supreme Science as Taught by Sri Ramana SRI RAMANAPARAVIDZOPANISHAD by "Who" (K Lakshmana Sarma) is offered as the humble presentation at the Feet of Bhagavan at the occasion of his fifty-sixth nigamantavani by the Publisher Sri Ramanasramam 13 As one seeing the false snake fails to see the real rope, so, seeing the world - wherein are included the Personal God and the individual soul – does not see the Real Self as He really is , i.e. as the Supreme Reality (Brahman). How long will this effect of Ignorance continue?
Guest guest
Dear Michaelji, I was in Sri Ramanasramam for a few days. Thanks for your kind offer to be in touch with you. How long will this effect of ignorance continue? When we wake up the world appears, just like it appears in dream. When it appears, there are two types of experiences. For persons in the first category, the world is an appearance, and there is no individual who wants to alter what is appearing. In the other and most common form of experience there is a seer, an individual, who sees the world, does not find it to his liking and wants to change it. If we are utterly content with what appears as world this very moment ( that means that there is no individual in us who judges and wants to alter it. The words utterly content are used to positively convey the absence of will to alter) there is no more appearance of snake and no more ignorance too. This moment we are free !!! This is what Sri Bhagavan says on appearance of the world: Talk 315 The mirage does not disappear even after knowing it to be a mirage. The vision is there but the man does not run to it for water. The world is a myth. Even after knowing it, it continues to appear. It must be known to be Brahman and not apart. If the world appears, yet to whom does it appear, he asks. What is your reply? You must say the Self. If not, will the world appear in the absence of the cognizing Self? Therefore the Self is the reality. The phenomena are real as the Self and are myths apart from the Self. Just can we be utterly content with this moment? Either we accept it unconditionally and be in The Kingdom of Heaven, Here and Now, OR, continuing to see the snake, trying to escape it(by altering the appearance of world situation), groping in the darkness of ignorance, be out of the Kingdom of Heaven.. Guest guest
Dear Michaelji, 1) At every moment two situations are likely. One is that we accept what appears. The other is that we do not accept what appears. 2) But as sadhana progresses, a third possibility begins to open up. That is, even when there is a non acceptance of the moment as it is, we become aware of the inner resistance to it (of the tendency to resist what is). Awareness is the light of consciousness. What ever is exposed to light becomes light. So, as the awareness of non acceptance happens the intensity of reaction and emotion to non acceptance begins to diminish. This awareness of non acceptance to what is keeps gaining momentum. Every sadhaka can notice this progress in himself. Only thing is, in the beginning, this awareness of non acceptance happens after the moment, as sadhana progresses it happens during the event and finally non acceptance does not happen. This depends on the extent of annihilation of the tendencies. 3) If one experiences the reality even for a short while, he can recognize the truth of absence of an individual in him. He can see the residual tendency in him to non acceptance( the arising of the individual). Non acceptance may still happen, but with lesser intensity and frequency till it is finally gone. 4) Do I agree? Yes I do. 5) Finally, when one is seeing the snake, he continues to see the snake, till light shines.
