Guest guest
Hello all, I am new comer and have a few very naive questions: 1. How does the Ashtak Varga (AV) system account for the week planets? For example, a planet in its infancy (0-5 degree) or any other weekness translate into the prediction based on AV, since AV system does not know the exact placing (the degress) of the planets in the signs? 2. Which ayanamsha to use ? I know Krushna's ayanamsha is promoted within the list, but most other systems insist on Lahiri or the other. What is the basis for promoting the Krushna's ayanamsha ? I find this point to be very important, since diff. systems place the planets in different houses (signs). 3. If someone is running a anterdasha of Rahu, which planet should be studied ? -best Regards -surendra sharma
Guest guest
Dear Surenda - I am new comer and have a few very naive questions: Welcome to the group, Surendra. In the file section are many lessons that have been put together and will answer your questions without a doubt. If you're truly interested in learning this system then reading these lessons are a MUST. In there, you will find your answers. If, after you read everything, you STILL have questions or doubts, then we will be glad to help you. Good luck! ) Donna 1. How does the Ashtak Varga (AV) system account for the week planets? Guest guest
Hello Sharma, I'll try to answer your questions 1. Planets are judged by their strenght = number of bindus they get in the house they're in and the ammount of points they acquire through aspect in the worksheet. 2. Krushna, who studied this system with vimshotara dasa chose this particular ayanamsa that works best with this system; so if you want to study it you best stick to this ayanamsa otherwise you get another reference point and as the system is especially to pinpoint events, you could be some months off the mark. 3. The nodes depend on the sign and constellation (nakshatra) in which they are positioned. ex. Venus in Bahrani will depend on Mars and Venus. If you want to study the system you better stick to the rules; this is true for any system you study. If you go to the site, you will find 27 lessons, worksheet with extended instructions, plus some other programs to facilitate the calculations. I wish you good luck and all the best Margarita s sharma [spsharma]Monday, December 03, 2001 5:03 AM Subject: Shad bala and ashtak varga Hello all,I am new comer and have a few very naive questions:1. Guest guest
Dear Surendra, Welcome to the group. As Donna and Margarita directed you, you must go through the lessons that are there in the files section. I shall try and give you a little snap shot and my little understand of this wonderful system. Snapshot of strengths considred in this system ------------- In Ashtakavarga system, planets that have greater than 4 points are said to give favourable results for the house it is placed in, planets with AV Bindus of less than 4 points give malefic results for the house placed in and planets with 4 points are said to be neutral and can go either way ofcourse depending on certain laws. The aspects that are considered in this system is Graha Dristi i.e Mars aspects 4, 8 and 7th, Saturn 3, 10 and 7th, Jupiter 5,9 and 7 and Venus, Sun and Moon aspect their 7th house. Do not consider any Rasi Dristi, as Ive tried to explain a little later in this post. Snapshot of Aspects considered in this system ------------ If a planet is with 5 bindus in a particular house then its casts aspect with a -5. If a planet is with 3 bindus then it casts aspect of +5 to all the houses it aspects. There are lessons with when you go through will make all these things clear. With this you will come across the Master Worksheet. With the aid of this spread sheet, you will come to the Natural Strenght of planets for each house. In order to create and understand the spread sheets, you will also have to familiarise yourself with the following basic principles. 1) 4-10 relationship between planets. 2) Samdharmi planets. This would answer your question on Rahu and Ketu. 3) Upachaya houses. General Understanding --------------------- This AV system does use most of the laws of vedic astrology eg. 4-10 principle as we use in for Gajakesari yog where Moon and Jupiter in Quadrants from each other help each other and its a yog for fame etc. Also another eg. is for finding the Arudha Lagna, if AL falls in satya peetha then we use the AL to be in 10th house from it or 4th depending on where it falls. This again would be 4-10 principle but used with different terminology. After going through these basics and understanding them, you will come across terminologies like House A, B, C, D, E references that are made. These are all explained in the lessons. Vimshottari Dasa starting from Moon Sign ------- Then you come to the Vimshottari dasa. This dasa used here starts from the Moon sign. There is a lesson that explains how to plot this dasa. The levels used here are Mahadasa and Antar Dasa only along with the Transit of Sun to pin point the date of the event. Computation of AV Bindus ------------------------ The way to calculate AV points is based on how Varhamira has explained. Hence you may find some discrapancies between what AV points you get here on this list and in spread sheets as compared to some programs that are available so do not get confused with this. Ananyamsa --------- The Ananyamsa used here is as researched by Krushna after his research and as Margarita pointed out it may give some difference in days as compared to Lahiri. I would leave that up to you to do research on various charts and come to your own conclusion. Just My Understanding --------------------- Surendra, from my little knowledge I can say, and Krushna or other can correct me, is that this system uses Upachaya houses and graha dristi in tandem. This as according to Vedic Astrology determines where Free will is, and graha dristi is used as it shows the desire of the planets and Vimsottari dasa starting from moon signifies how we are driven by our minds. So basically, this system uses the power of free will (upachaya houses), with desires (graha dristi) which directs the mind (vimsottari) and using the transit of sun to come to a pin point date of the event that is likely to occur or has occured. As we know that Moon sustains any yoga and Sun initiates any yoga, so all these factors are used all together and what dictates the even is the strength of the planet. All these principles are used in this system. This is my limited understanding. Other more learned members on this list can correct my understanding if its wrong. Another suggestion Surendra, is that Shadbala and other strength are used for prediction with a system. The primary purpose of a mathematical model eg Shadbal is to identify the strenght of a planet, here in order to calculate the strenght of a planet AV Bindus are used. So if one says that a planet is exalted it means that the planet has got 8 (max) bindus that it can get, and we do know that a planet in exaltation delivers favourable results and such will a planet with that has secured 8 points in AV Bindus will behave. Bottom line is same the connotation is different. So please try and understand the philosophy of the systems. I know, I know this email is getting a bit too large ;=). Hopefully this helps.
