Do not be neglectant to answer with Sanskrit terminology, as some terms are easier to understand in sanskrit than in english. I deeply hope you reply. Guest guest
Dear Vist Larsen, My answer below your question: This question maybe simple, yet i haven't been satisfied with any answers on the same, hence i pose it to you. 1) Why do the Sapta-grahas and the Lagna confer the 8 chakras of Astaka-Varga? Krushna: SEVEN Planets are considered as main planets. In ancient books only seven planets have been given Importance. Now Lagna is a most important factor in a chart. Sun in 4th house have different meaning then in 5th house. Sun in 4th will deny share in father's property. Generally the person is living away from his parents. Sun in 2nd keeps the person inspite of ample food is available. It is immaterial in which sign Sun is situated. We count houses from Lagna. This way all the planets have different result house wise with respect to Lagna. This is the reason Lagna have got importance in AV system. 2) Why were the nodes excluded from this scheme, yet the Lagna included? Krushna: Nodes are included in directly. Nodes represents the Lord of the sign and lord of Constellation. Nodes gives the result as per the lords of the sign and Constillation. Again Nodes are having one sided effect. The Planets are effected by Nodes, but have you heard Nodes are effected by Planets? Compairing the Lagna, Lagna indicates the Individual. The Planets from Lagna, and Lagna from Planets have some effect. All the houses from Lagna are having different meanings. You must be aware of the names given to different houses. 3) What is the basis for the individual distributions of bindus/seeds to the various positions from the asta-graha, in the specific varga, be it Lagna, Surya, Chandra, etc - Varga? Krushna: You must be aware of some prominent results for Example Jupiter in 12th house from Moon or Lagna. No marriage in India Or any Shubh Work is not done when Jupiter is in 12th house from Moon or Lagna. Saturn and Mars gives good result in 10th house, 3rd, 6th, and 11th house. What is base for this. Same thing is taken in Astakvarg. The places where the planets gives good result from Lagna, Moon and other planets are alloted one point for that place. In this way calculating for all planets and effect from each other, we get cumulative effect of all the planets. And this is Astakvarg. In ancient books this is given say for Sun : In Sanskrit: Swarakribhyo dinesh: swasukhmrutitap: khastalabhaddyat: I Shukradstariri:fesvaritanyatpolabhavatri surejyatII Chandrallabharikarmatrishu shashitanayatsnatyadharmatmajeshu I Prokto lagnadvayaynabupchayagruhagat: suprashastostavargat II Meaning: Sun gives good result from itself, Mars and Saturn in the places 2,4,8,9,10,7,11 and 1st. It gives good result being in the places 7th,6th,or 12th places from Venus. From Jupiter it gives good result for the places 6th,5th,9th,and 11th. From Moon it gives good result for the places 11th,6th,10th and 3rd. From Mercury 12th,11th 10th,9th,5th 6th,and 3rd. From Lagna 12th, 4th, 3rd, 6th, 10th, and 11th. All the seven planets and Lagna give Astakvarg. Do not be neglectant to answer with Sanskrit terminology, as some terms are easier to understand in sanskrit than in english. I deeply hope you reply. It is difficult to write Sanskri sloke with proper pronounsation. Any how I tried to give one Sloke. I hope you might have got the answer for your question. I know You are a good astrologer, So you can follow this system very easily. Some one call this system as Micro Astrology. For better understanding this system one should have basic knowledge of Astrology. You can make better use of this system. krushna Best wishes Visti ---
Bhagavad Purana: http://www.srimadbhagavatam.org
Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra: vedic-\
astrologybphs.zip
iTRANS 99 Font: http://www.omkarananda-
ashram.org/Sanskrit/Itranslt.html

Guest guest
Vyam Vyaasadevaaya Namah Dear Krushna, Thankyou for your blessings. Regarding the first two questions i'm still abit unclear, let me elaborate: The Sapta-graha are indeed highlighted alot in scriptures, as are the Nava and Asta-graha at times, when we talk about various Karaka, i.e. Naisargika, Chara and Sthira Karaka. Now the Sthira Karaka are only 7 and constitute the preservation or destruction of our material bodies, hence Nodes are left out of this scheme. Similarly we also have the Sapta-rishi (7 rishis) and Sapta-Rasa (7 oceans/juices) which revolve around the Sapta-Dweepa (7 islands). Now these are planetary schemes which are used for certain purposes to understand astrology, specifically the creation. How do the 8 varga refer to any of the above schemes, or does this have a different scheme?
