Astakvarga Points

Dear Friends and Gurus,

I have found Astakvarga system working at many places but baffling at others. I have following doubts :

 

1) AV points in Dusthanas should be high or low ? Will good SAV points in the 8th improve longevity but create hurdles and other problems for the native ?

2) Similarly BAV points for 6th, 8th or 12th lords should be high or low ? Say Mars as 3rd and 8th lord (Virgo Lagna) has 7 points in its own AV and is placed in the 7th. Will it be disastrous for spouse as well as for the native himself (aspecting the lagna) ?

3) Say 6th lord is in the 8th. Will good AV points of 6th lord increase the effect of Vipareet Rajayoga ?

4) What is the basic concept of AV points ? Does it simply make a planet strong (as in retrogression) or it improves the beneficence of the planet ?

5) Should we calculate AV points for D-charts separately ?

 

I request all the gurus and learned friends to enlighten me and many others like me. I shall feel much obliged.

Dear Shri Praveen ji

 

In my opinion, the Ashtakvarga points always increase beneficence of

the planet. Higher the points, higher the beneficence. " Strength "

and " beneficence " are two different things altogether. In my view,

Ashtakvarga should be used to judge the " " beneficence " and not

the " strength " of a planet. For measuring the strength, we have

Shadbala and Vimsopakbala etc..

 

Once we take this view, many of your other questions are

automatically get answered. If 6th, 8th or 12th lords has got more

points in it's posited sign, are posited in a Kakshya of " Adhimitra "

and this Adhimitra Kakshya lord has also contributed a point to the

planet concerned, the 6th, 8th or 12th lord's malefic effects will

certainly get toned down to a certain extent. Though they will not

get converted into a benefic.

 

On the contrary to it, if 6th, 8th or 12th lords has got less points

in it's posited sign, are posited in a Kakshya of " Adhi Shatru " and

this Kakshya lord has also not contributed a point to the planet

concerned, the 6th, 8th or 12th lord's malefic effects will be even

more prominent.

 

Concerning the question - AV points in Dusthanas should be high or

low?, again, the same principle applies. Higher points will bring out

the positive significations of a house and shall suppress the

negative significations. Every House has some positive significations

and some negative significations. This is another matter

that " Dusthanas " has more negative significations than positive. But,

here is a catch. There are only 337 points in SAV. If " Dusthanas " has

higher number of points, it ought to come by deduction from other

Houses. To save other Houses from going low in points, it is better

instead that " Dusthanas " are with less points. That's the logic.

Otherwise, higher points in " Dusthanas " will certainly bring out the

positive significations of those Houses.

 

Regarding your question that - should we calculate AV points for D-

charts separately?, my firm opinion is that we should calculate them

separately. The whole concept of Ashtakvarga is based upon the

relative positioning of various planets from each other in a chart.

Without calculating AV of Divisional charts separately, I do not

think that we are using the technique of D-chart's AV properly. A

few years back, when software were not available to calculate AV of

divisional charts and whole AV has to be calculated by hand, it was

but natural to adopt a short-cut of placing SAV points as such in a

divisional chart. My personal experience in using AV of D09,

calculated separately, has been quite satisfactory. I have already

posted examples of a few well known charts in this connection- about

a week back in " Ashtakvarga " group. You may like to go through those

examples.
