Guest guest
Dear Mark, List, Krushna, and List Moderators, Thanks for your patience in letting participants with differing views indulge in this matter... J This topic has been controversial for a long time on a few other lists, and has caused upsets and misunderstandings on many lists. So I appreciate being given the opportunity to have a voice here without being d…And I hope no one finds my posts offensive, as I mean no disrespect to those holding opposing views. Mark - Thanks for your views …This is certainly a nice thing to hope for J - However, I don’t think that the extreme dichotomy of these two very diverse belief systems can be easily resolved in the age of Kali Yuga …I’ll tell you why. You wrote: “I personally, think God created a scientific age so we could start to resolve all our myriads of different world views.†The problem with your statement above (with respect to any form of reconcilable resolution) is that the Monists will find a dichotomy from their belief perspective, with the mere mention (above) that “God†(who to Monists does not exists as a separate entity from themselves) could even be separately involved in any of this, as man and God are one to Monists, and therefore God cannot be responsible for “creating a scientific ageâ€.  In other words, Monists (for example, one branch is Zen practitioners) don’t see God and man as separate, where Dualists view God and man as separate entities. To Dualists, man continues on his journey in life - with the eventual goal being geared toward that of attaining union with God, or something likened to “monastic theismâ€. J With Monists, theism (belief in the existence of a God or God’s outside of themselves) simply doesn’t exist. Therefore Monism and Dualism may be irreconcilable. Both diverse branches are pointed in their views, and therefore it is the individual belief system of each one of us, uniquely and personally, that must be the final judge and jury as to whether or not remedials, in their various forms, are effective or not, and if so, what specific ones hold value for us personally. Many people throughout their lives will follow one path for a certain amount of time, and then the other - to ultimately find their own Truth and path that is right for them. So my advice would be for folks to search their souls to determine their own personal resonance with Truth, and find their own unique relationship with “All That Is†– and in the process of doing that, to not be unduly influenced by another’s powerful belief system. Be true to yourself and search within your own soul for your Truth. And finally, let us all be gracious enough to allow others the same freedom - without defamation or personal character assaults on those who beliefs differ from our own – meaning of either those who believe in remedials, or those who do not. Tolerance is Freedom. Thanks for listening.          All the Best,       Sandy Crowther http://www.jupitersweb.com Mark Kincaid [m.kincaid] Sunday, February 08, 2004 11:13 AM To: Subject: 2- & Sandy,....from MarkKincaid....re.....Jyotish Remedies Dear Sandy & Others. I think one of the primary advantages of our scientific age is it's been an opportunity to resolve just these kinds of irresolveable belief systems. I personally, think God created a scientific age so we could start to resolve all our myriads of different world views. No one seriously believes that the Earth is flat. Why? Because we developed a system of knowledge which is able to test the validity of different opinions. I think Jyotish is strategically placed to be able to test any and all of their beliefs. Okay, we believe the Sun in a person's chart refers to self-confidence. Well, this will be very easy to study. Take 1,000 individuals and test them using standard psychological tests to determine self-worth and self-confidence, and I bet you there will be an extremely high correlation between their scores and their Astrological charts. We can test Jyotish remedies like this. We can first do a base line on a person's skill in any area, and then prescribe certain remedies and then study their results. I think even, now, because we're talking about this, the desire is getting stirred up for just such scientific validations. Maybe this will also help us move out of a situation where Astrology, itself is split between Western & Eastern. If we could demonstrate time and time again, that Jyotish really fits, 'life', then Western enthuiasts will have to give up their world view. Western Astronomers and scientists are very fed up with Western Astrology because it says, 'we're symbolic' and not literal Astrology. I think if Western Psycholoigcal Astrology teaches us anything, it's the fact that Astrology can be found in the Psychologys and Physiologies....of people! I enjoyed your email very much Sandy. Sincerely, Mark Kincaid PS....I also write a Jyotish newsletter. It includes a daily, Transits newsletter as well as other aspects of Jyotish as well. If anyone in this group is interested, in subscribing, feel free to contact me personally at: m.kincaid And, the newsletter is free. " Sandy Crowther " <sandy Sun, 8 Feb 2004 10:30:24 -0500 RE: Remedies Hi Peter and List, My 2 centsÅ J In addition to what others have already interjected on the subject of remedial measures, I would just like to add that much of the astrological dichotomy and controversy surrounding the beliefs versus non-beliefs, with respect to effectiveness or lack thereof any type of remedial measures, lies in each individual¹s unique belief system, and therefore cannot be measured or evaluated by another¹s belief system. Another¹s strong belief system can certainly influence you, but we must go beyond that and know the bottom line here of what is right for us as individuals. For example, some people believe in God and pray to God  others do not. To put this in better perspective, the fact is that some folks believe in the Monistic approach (such as there is only ONE reality and they are therefore responsible for singularly helping themselves in life), where as Dualists have a belief in a higher power greater than themselves, and therefore have faith that this higher power, such as God, has an ability to assist them in their struggles in life. So to be influenced by one approach versus another must be highly individual, and has a great deal to do with faith in a higher being, versus monistic beliefs. No one individual should blindly follow the opinions of another, or follow the opinions of one who has delegated themselves as judge and jury as to the effectiveness, or lack thereof, of remedial measures for another - whether for or against effectiveness of the same - as this is such a highly personal experience - and highly individual for each one of us. We alone must evaluate the experience for ourselves, based on our beliefs, and blindly follow no one¹s belief. But what we should allow as evolved astrologer¹s is freedom of choice  our individual right to believe or not believe without duly disrespecting another¹s views as illegitimate. So, in my humble opinion, the bottom line is that there is no way of either validating or invalidating remedial measures, and one has to search one¹s own conscience for what beliefs ring true to them, individually, and not be influenced by another¹s strong opinions as to whether they work or not. Some find comfort in remedials, prayers, kavaches and gems, while others do not. So a bit of soul searching is necessary to evaluate one¹s own belief system, and then an assessment as to whether or not one has faith in prayers or remedials can only then be uniquely evaluated for each of us as individuals. Freedom of choice. The final suggestion was that curing situations etc. was best done by getting down to it and making sure that the things worked out for you. Guest guest
Mark, I gave away western astrology because it had turned so psychological and I place no value at all on psychological values. I still howewver look at other types of astrology such as Vedic, Uranian, and MaHaBote. Peter S
