For absolute precision this is probably the best thing to do, but as I say, opinions are definitely divided about the question of fluctuating acceleration of the rate of precession, as reflected in the excel ayanamsha calculator, so I personally am happy with the approximate mean value proposed in the lessons (Lahiri -1°01') (also happens to be same as excel calc for my birthday...).
