Hello KAS gurus,

Hope this finds you all well. Firstly thanks to Krushna ji for this

refined system of KAS.

I am a begginer in the feild of astrology currently trying to learn

the KAS system. The software I use for casting charts is the free

version of Jagannatha Hora. Going through the material at Krushna

ji's site I found that the timing of events is very sensitive to the

assumptions used for casting the charts. I would appreciate it if

someone could clarify the preferences (or point me to it if already

published somewhere) that I would need to set on Jagannatha Hora. The

main choices where I am not clear are as given below:

1) Planet Calculation Options

a) Should planet positions be Geocentric (as calculated with respect

to the center of the earth)

OR

Topocentric (as calculated with respect to the actual place of birth)

b) Should planet positions be True (where the planet really is)

OR

Apparent (where the planet appears to be)

c) Should I use Mean Nodes (always retrograde)

OR

True Nodes (not retrograde)

2) How should sunrise be defined?

The center of sun's disk is truly on the eastern horizon

OR

The tip of sun's disk is truly on the eastern horizon

OR

The tip of sun's disk appears to be on the eastern horizon

3) In the ashtakavarga calculations should one use

Parashara's definitions

OR

Varamihira's definitions

4) How long should the year be defined as for getting the dasa periods?

365.25 days (as indicated in the calculation of KAS ayanamsa)

OR

360 days

If somebody has been using the Jagannatha Hora then please could you

publish the entire settings as used for KAS. There are a lot of other

parameters which I do not understand as of yet. But I am really

interested in starting with the KAS since it addresses a key point

that any beginner faces - why the text book examples need not happen

in real life.

Thanks and regards

Mohnish

Dear Monish,

There is no s/w that gives all the calculations that we use in KAS and

that was the reason we decided to create our own program.

You can download the copy which is free of cost with everything as per

the teachings of Krushnaji.

That can be downloaded from Donna's site at http://krushna.sageasita.com

There are also lessons there and visuals that will help u learn KAS.

Good luck,

Cheers !!!
