I tried to test KAS2006 v2.3.1. But it appears that it is not yet prepared for Indian natives. You cannot set the time zone of +5:30 hours w.r.t. GMT. Moreover, there is a major bug in the program. Where I expect Sagittarius as Ascendant, it displays Gemini as Ascendant !

Improvements Required:

(1) The program should be modified to include births in India.

(2) When Lat/ Long are provided for any place in India by the user, there is no need to input the Time Zone. It should be set to +5:30 hours ahead of GMT.

(3) The program must be fully tested to see that it calculates Ascendant correctly.

(4) It appears that macros have been used in the program. Is it really essential ? If smb has set the security level High, the program won't work. So either the program should avoid using macros, or should give proper instructions to the user.

Dear Narayan ji,

Do not be in a haste to judge the KAS program with little

knowledge.

All the Time zones are in place and proper. This program has been in operation for many years

now.

For India please use IST -5:30.

All such things are documented or discussed in the

archives. Take some time to read the

archives before jumping to any conclusion.

Cheers !!!

Dear Ash ji,

<< For India please use IST -5:30.>>

Thanks for the clarification. I have run the program accordingly. The program does give correct results now.

You have used the negative value for the time zone having East Longitude. The established convention is just the opposite. So I could not have thought of checking in the negative range of Time Zone for India.

With regards

Narayan Prasad
