Today I was in the market and the woman in front of me was going on a

vision quest. What is a vision quest and has anyone gone on one? Thank

you.

The Cherokee part of me (small genetically-Large spiritually) :)---compels me to

go!

I just so happen to be going to the sacred mountain of my ancestors tomorrow to

sit and meditate and pray for guidance.

It helps me to keep in touch with my spiritual side.

Sometimes in the past I have sojourned for up to 2 weeks---tomorrow will only be

for a day.

:)

Blessings,

Stephen

A vision quest is a process by which a person can go inside ones self, either

through imagination, mediation or dreaming.

Entering other realms, often done under a tree, in a mountain or in a sacred

spot, to recieve guidance or messages from spirit.

I believe this is correct but I'm no expert.... smile.

Also, I have a question, a girl friend of mine had an aura picture taken of

herself.

On the picture, infront of the body, appears a white cube.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could represent?

The person taking the picture could not explain it to her.

Any thoughts welcomed, love Elektra x x x

Hi,

I was very involved with the Lokota when I lived in Texas 7 years, did many,

many sweat lodges, a vision quest that involved many weeks of preparation and

was over seen by a medicine man who came down from the Rosebud reservation in

South Dakota, and then was invited to a sun dance at Rosebud. (I was very

honored)

The vision quest required me tying 100 medicine bags in the 4 colors of the 4

directions, praying a different prayer for each bag and then tying them together

with string. I was to eat (actually not eat we more like it, lol) a special

diet for a month before the quest. There were 3 of us that were put out. We

had to go and get 4 long branches or poles to set up our area, tied the 4

strings with the corresponding colors of the 4 directions and were told to stay

inside that area. We did a sweat, I was told the owl was the master of the

night and there we were, next to a river, away from each other and with a fire,

our Indian friends at the fire for support and we had just a small blanket and

no food or water but a great determination to " see " whatever visions were there

for us.

I froze at night, extremely hot and uncomfortable during the day and early

morning or late afternoon the temperatures were OK but then there were swarms of

mosquitos so I was uncomfortable all the time.

And had amazing, wondrous visions, starting with seeing little bright lights in

the trees as we put the other two people out in their spots. And, an owl would

hoot (or maybe the medicine man was nearby0 and the visions would change.

Then we came in, could not talk until we were in the sweat lodge again with

everyone and were then to recount our experiences.

I would be happy to go further into what those were if there is interest.

It was amazing and humbling.

In gratefulness,

Sherri
