The Mulch of Inspiration

Greetings Folks-

I don't usually meditate per se in a formal way but I do sometimes

take some time upon waking or going to bed to put a centering on and

take a look. I very often get a plethora of images coming to my

mind's eye which are surprising due to their great detail, if not as

vivid as normal sight. I call these images " night visions " . I

sometimes make a note of the ones that seem especially interesting or

amusing but due to the great degree of them I could not note them

all. When these images first started coming in great quantity in the

detail of these fully formed images would draw my attention so much

that I would loose them, much like Stephen reported. Now I can relax

more and let them be shown to me rather than try to see what is

appearing.

Very often the images are of a graphic or artistic nature, so it is

like I am in a gallery of sorts. Often I am looking at a book and

seeing the pages turn and then I see very detailed abstract drawings

and symbols. Sometimes I see sculptural constructions. Sometimes I

see strange little scenes. Never do they last more than a couple of

seconds. However sometimes if I look into the process of their

arrival they start coming with a great rapidity though not all seem

fully formed nor can I fully reflect on them. Then sometimes I can

see them in a matrix as if they are coming in on many screens from

many points of view simultaneously. Again in this case I cannot

really register the images but I can notice the way in which they are

flowing and being perceived which itself seems worthy of note.

The meaning of these images, if there is one, is not obvious in most

occasions. In anticipation of writing this I remembered a couple a

few nights ago. One was a scene of a large creature, a buffalo bear

animal on its hind legs, whose back was facing me and was walking

away from a couple of posts with grey mailboxes. There was snow on

the ground except for around the mailboxes and the trail the creature

was on. The trail headed past a vertical fence post with another

leaning against it diagonally. In another night vision I saw a a

small cottage with large hands of flat wood around it as if the hands

where doing " guess who?' to the building. The hands were painted a

muted lavender color.

Hey Bret - I have talked about this before, also. I called them

" glimpses. " And they happen at night right before falling asleep.

For me, it has been nature scenes, with glistening, sparkling images.

I was interested reading how yours is related to art. Sounds like we each

have our own versions of " heaven, " for lack of a better word. For me, it is

still fleeting. Still working on trying to " capture " it for longer periods of

time. But just the fact that it happens at all makes me know that this

" realm " is there, revealing itself, and that we all have the ability to tap

into

it.

I think it is wonderful. Thanks for sharing and to all of the

wonderful people here.

Hi Deb-

I suppose these glimpses find a form based on what has interest or import to

you.

Yes for me it is still fleeting too. And I think you make a good point about

trying to

capture it for longer periods of time. I think this is what I am trying to write

about, the

subjective inquiry, giving attention to what comes and finding an active

engagement in its

unfolding. And doing so just because it is what comes and not necessarily

because of what

it may mean.

Yes, for me, I see it, get all excited, and then lose it! If I can get

that excitement or that fear under control, no telling what I might see!

I'm working on it, though. Diligently!

Hi Deb-

Yes, I know about that excitment making it go away. I think this is what Stephen

was

talking about too. I am finding this effort at composure or even detachement to

have

profound results. I think have mentioned this before. It is being engaged by

being

removed, which is maybe some how not actively diverting the energy from where it

really

wants to go which then leads to an intense excitation.

However following this lesson also makes it near impossible to accept an active

ownership

of the experience, which may be what wants to be learned, but it is also making

me a bit

lethargic. I'll see how it come out.

Bret - this is a very interesting point. I very much enjoy your

Composure, almost detachment....no ownership of the experience....

Yes, that seems to work for me!

If I try to " force " things to happen, I get disappointed.

If I " let " things happen, I get joy.

Of course I still follow certain protocols to " loosen up " the power!

I just don't really say " KUNDALINI--Come OUT-ta!, NOW! "

-or words to that effect.

I wouldn't dare! :)

Blessings!
