Ray,

 

to relax your chest, you may want to try deep-breathing the yoga way:

filling your belly first, then the middle of your lungs, then the top.

When you exhale, empty the bottom of your lungs first, then the

middle, then the top.

 

Hatha yoga poses that open your chest and diaphragm such as backbends

also help prepare for pranayama (deep breathing).
