Astral tourism dream

Had this dream a couple of days ago: I was standing on the central

plaza of a castle, knowing that I was there for a conference. The

castle was on top of a cliff, surrounded by lush vegetation, and it

overlooked a large greenish body of water. As I walked around the

castle, I found a trail that took me down the cliff to a lovely beach

(the body of water was, in fact, the sea). In the dream, I thought

" this is the castle where Rilke wrote his Duineser Elegien. The castle

is in north eastern Italy, and this is the Adriatic sea " .

 

When I woke up, I ran a search for Rilke's castle. Sure enough, the

place is located in north-eastern Italy, on the Adriatic shore; there

are several universities and advanced studies centers in the area,

and--most importantly--the pictures of the castle are remarkably

similar to the place I saw in the dream (beach included).

 

Needless to say, I have never been to Duino, nor have I ever seen it

in a picture. In fact, in my waking state I didn't even remember the

exact name of the place (I confused it with Duisburg), and I honestly

though it was in central Germany. Basically, my oneiric self knew better.

 

This dream probably doesn't mean anything at all, but the astral

tourism thing was pretty cool. Now, if only I could do that on

command, I could save a bundle on vacation packages...
