Guest guest
hard drive crash here over Thanksgiving weekend too... lost it all, fortunately much that's important is backed up and can be rebuilt. unfortunately I was running a custom-built Linux box, compiled from the ground up (search google on " Gentoo Linux " ), which will at some point have to be redone, requiring approximately 4-5 solid days of compile time, assuming no errors occur :-) not exactly my idea of fun. anyway, odd coincidence, particularly given that my main system (on which the HD failure occured) has been in service less than a year and a half, and is/was a supposedly high-quality drive component. I've gotten sort of used to sudden and unexplained lockups, hard drive crashes and the like in my decade or so of using PC's for school, work, and fun. -brian , " stephen condrey " <stephencondrey wrote: > > My pooter met it's untimely demise around Thanksgiving- > But, JOY, Oh, Joy! > Now...IT LIVES! > I hope no one thought I was trying to avoid them! > All the Best! > :) > > Stephen > >
