Guest guest
Hi Katherine, to answer your question about meditation techniques: I started when I was in my late teens with chakra meditation (using mantras and visualization on each chakra, starting with the root and moving upward). This seems to be a very powerful technique in awakening the K. Nowadays as soon as close my eyes to meditate my attention moves upward, and I immediately find myself contemplating the light(s) above my head. This is where most of the action seems to be happening at this stage. I also use mental repetition of Sanskrit mantras (this works for me because my devotional practice is Hindu-based). I did not receive my mantras from a guru, but each of them has definitely a distinctive flavor, and gives me a different vibration and light. I also channel energy through my hands, and infuse myself reiki-style. When I do this, I get a very lively, very strong light all around me. It's absolutely exhilarating, and it also does wonders in killing flu bugs, LOL! Finally, I also practice a lot of hatha yoga. That seems to build a good foundation for energy work, though by itself it's hardly enough. After a good hatha session I can truly feel the energy buzz, usually in my feet or along the lunar and solar channels. Sometimes I pull up that energy with bandhas; most of the time, this opens my crown and I get the facial pull etc. Bandhas can be quite powerful, but I have a hunch they should be used with caution. Hope this helps, Sel , Katherine Miller <katsam19 wrote: > > Selena, > > I am just curious, what is your meditation method. I have yet to find one that helps me be consistant. Guest guest
Selena, Thank you for providing the information! I really do appreciate it. Where do I find information about doing chakra meditations and mantras. I know quite a bit about the chakras to be able to visualize them as I meditate, at least I think I do. Anyway, I have tried to find someone who knows how to teach Hatha yoga, but I haven't had much success, are there videos available specifically for Hatha yoga? If there are, what are your suggestions if any. I am aware that yoga should be monitored by someone with experience, but what is one to do when you can't find anyone? Anyway, I am new at all of this, only about 1 year worth of knowledge to ride one. I need your assistance if you don't mind. You can contact me privately if you want to. Guest guest
Katherine, The best meditation instruction is available on swamij's website at www.swamij.com. He also gives a good explanation of the chakra meditation I mentioned in my post. As to hatha yoga: if you feel you might benefit from it, but you can't find a half-decent yoga school where you live, you may want to get a copy of " Yoga: The Iyengar Way " . The book gives detailed explanations for each pose and has great sequences for all levels. Hope this helps, Sel , Katherine Miller <katsam19 wrote: > > Selena, > > Thank you for providing the information! I really do appreciate it.
