Guest guest
What is enlightment? It is what some might call " awakening " . If you want freedom from constant " mind chatter " that makes you unhappy; if you want to not be obsessed with what you feel others have " done to you " —if you want to escape your unpleasant reactions you may experience from life situations. If you want to live your life right now full of inner joy, not obsessed with what may happen in the future, or carry baggage from the past…. Enlightment can be the escaping from what you don't want, and realizing what you already have inside-- right now. Enlightment is coming home to that perfect inner self you have lost touch with! Welcome home! :) Stephen C. , " bretarenson " <bretarenson wrote: > > Hello- > > I don't think about enlightenment. Guest guest
Bravo, Stephen...you have defined enlightment perfectly...coming home to ourselves...to that self that God spawned many lifetimes ago who is evolving and getting better all the time...who is getting closer to reuniting with God with each lifetime. May our individual spiritual paths lead us to the same goal...enlightment. May our community here in this group enhance that journey. Guest guest
> Hey Master- I remember now, you were the one who made levity about me saying there is no such thing as an ego. So I am sure then you could see that I wouldn't see enlightenment as the resolution of the ego. What about the Buddhist concept of no-self as true awareness? Not that I say this is the truth but enlightenment is what they hold as their highest goal. My question to you, how does one lose touch with their perfect self? or better how does one only see their imperfect self? Are we all two selves then? I tend to think there is a lot more to me than two. And none of the plethora of activities and energies, as they compete and interact, can I convince myself are really me. What have I got here, no ego, no self, maybe no enlightenment, perfect the way God made me. Come to think of it, I must already be enlightened. Why not? Aren't you? Guest guest
Hello, Bret! Levity? I hope it was not sarcasm! I don't like to appear that way (it happens I suppose). I don't like to offend, but it happens sometimes-even unintentionally! Ego as I see it is " mind chatter " . The part of you makes you miserable. It is the part of you that takes your focus from the wondrous, only moment that matters---the present....the eternal present moment. The two parts of me I see, the " inner self " that is a full fledged connection with God....and the very human Ego (defined as the worry oriented mind chatter). Get in touch with your perfect self by not resisting your Ego (see above definition). Welcome it in. If you see pain, experience the pain to the fullest! Then when the pain cannot " hurt you anymore " the ego has lost it's battle (for now). Look at the pain and say: " Silly pain, I don't need you anymore! (If those words work for you). But, the Ego is a persistent little devil. It will try more attacks! Keep up the practice! Eventually the Ego becomes weaker and weaker, and the Perfect Inner Self will outshine! One loses focus of the perfect self by letting the ego run their lives (mind chatter). One stays " present " by focusing more on the " inner self " . Like Chrism's description, it is a balancing act between Heaven and Earth. Both are important! You don't really want to walk around " Soaked in Spirituality " and be worthless to your fellow men while you are here, I would think! Are you and I Enlightened? Are we focused on the present moment more that we are on the endless mind chatter? Enlightment can come in stages (the balancing act I mentioned before). Am I Enlightened? Let's just say I am constantly focusing on the Present Moment. I am also aware of my Ego attacks (The personal mind chatter that just really blows the Present Beautiful Moment). Being focused on such, I still function in Society---better than before. Honestly, I'm a work in progress. As always, I hope these words do not sound offensive or arrogant. They are not meant to sound that way. They can to some people, I now understand why (thanks to some wonderful insights provided by some wonderful people)! There are stages to Enlightment, Bret. I would dare say you have obtained quite a few from your e-mails! You seem to me like a jewel in the world of unconscious people. Keep doing what you do! With Love and Respect, :) Stephen C. (By the way, as a work in progress---I may have said something offensive in the past, my Ego and inner self apologize if this is true!) , Bret Arenson <bretarenson wrote: > > > > > Hey Master- > > I remember now, you were the one who made levity about me saying > there is no such thing as an ego.
