Guest guest
Hi guys, here is the latest on my nephew Brennan. I hope my sister and brother in law can make it through this okay...! It's rough on them. Please feel free to skip this post if you are not interested. I wanted to share with anyone who wanted to understand what his condition is. Be well everyone, Bradly Letter from my sister: Hello All, I thought I would write a quick email to tell you all how Brennan is doing. His last appointment with a doctor was at Sick Kids on March 8. He was diagnosed with Partial Complex Seizures. There was no treatment offered at that time because they wanted to get results from a MRI that was on the 9th as well as get Brennan in for a Video EEG. Brennan was put on a " stand-by " list for the EEG. We have been " standing by " for a month now. Brennan's behaviour at school has been unusual. He has been completing about 10% of his expected school work. Big assignments we have been doing, sometimes late. One assignment was finished, taken to school but was lost en route. He has been putting small objects in his mouth at home and at school and we have no idea why. We started calling Sick Kids on March 30 to ask for help. I have arranged counseling through the Employee Assistance Program and we will see a counselor specializing in children on Saturday. After a phone call from Brennan's teacher this morning, I decided to start calling physicians again. My calls to Sick Kids made me realize that the EEG was not coming anytime too soon. I called my family physician but she was away. I finally got through to Brennan's pediatrician. He talked to Mike (my phone only works in some parts of the school). The pediatrician called the neurologist and they agreed that it was time to medicate Brennan. Dr. Porter did say that he didn't think the EEG would happen soon enough. I really wish they hadn't given me false hope. They told me that it would be a couple of weeks. (Charlotte is my witness.) Brennan is now on a anti- convulsion drug. He starts on a low dosage and by six weeks will be full dose. I feel better already. (ha ha) Well, hopefully over the next few weeks the seizures will lessen and Brennan can get a more restful sleep. I want my old Brennan back! I am hopeful that the counselor can help with strategies to lessen stress for us all and to help Brennan cope in the mean time. I'll keep you all updated. Guest guest
Starting into an OCD situation. Dont know if this is concurrent with the meds or started before. I wonder how he responds to art therapies. -
Guest guest
I'll suggest the art Chrism... I got an e-mail from my sister last night. He had the first low dosage of the drugs yesterday. Had his first full night of sleep... Hope it's a good sign. Hey guys, prayers welcome but no need for sorries! I'm sure he's going through what he needs for some lesson. Thanks so much for the thoughts, energies and prayers sent his way. He's blessed. Bradly
