Guest guest
HARK! Has someone uttered my name in VAIN?.... It's interesting to see all of these minds creating all of these interesting words. When I was much younger I was very much controlled by words, oral...written...thought out words... The more words I bathed in the better I thought I would be... Now, as age has creeped up on me I long more for silence, not permanent silence mind you! Just a " little vacation " here and there! I heard long ago, " A young man is like a colt: running around when walking will do--constantly burning up energy! " . Zen is based on simplicity. " Don't bother thinking too much! " There is something much deeper than thinking! " As I get older I appreciate that way of existing more and more... My question... Is Zen for Old People? :) Have a Blessed Day! Guest guest
Yes, gee, quiet that noisey mind. One of the things that is fun to do is try to walk around without a head. Imagine yourself headless, and your awareness drops down into the heart. One of my favorite things to do is to just sit with a friend without words and let the energy speak. Too bad Zen isn't a required class in early formation at school. Can you imagine what the world would be like???? Guest guest
My favorite Zen expression: " No Mind " ... My wife(and many of my elementary teachers would agree)--is that I've been that way for years! :) " No Head " !?! Teens as Masters! Guest guest
LOL! Your name could never be uttered in vain, dear Stephen... And now, since I've learned something from the book you recommended, I will now quit uttering (well, writing) words, and thinking words, and adopt a quiet mind.................
