P.S. I hope you understand that I am not looking for

a way out of doing what I pledged to do. I want very

much to continue my 'K ritual'...the safeties, the

Five Tibetans, the compression prayer, prayers to

Shakti and God, meditation...I have come to love it

and it elevates me. I don't want to do anything to

compromise my path; I am prepared and ready for my

awakening to start. If this pain is K-related, I can

deal with it. If it is not, I don't want to hurt

myself and derail my progress on my path. Please

advise...

Claudia,

The sequence of downward facing dog and upward facing dog in the 5

Tibetans can strain the lower back. A lot of people who do vinyasa

yoga develop the same problem (myself included).

Hi, Sel,

I don't know what you mean by downward facing dog and

upward facing dog...the document I have shows

numbers...which numbers do you mean? What do you do

when you strain your back from doing them?

Thanks,

Claudia

I am not sure about numbers (I rarely do the Tibetans myself). If you

google downward facing dog and upward facing dog, you'll easily find

pictures. Both of them are very popular yoga poses that, if done as a

sequence, may cause back problems.

Regarding what to do: warm packs, seeing a chiropractor, and

suspending the practice for a while. When you resume it, just be very

careful with the down and up dog sequence.

No worries Claudia!,

Let us look at this and see what will unlock

this issue. It is coming to me a s a K related pain though. This should teach

you of the direct physical sensations and serve as an example of the Kundalini

being a very real and definite presence in the body. Not an " airy fairy new age

consciousness concept " Not that you were thinking of it that way but there are

those that do. - It is real and has real effects. Pain being one of them. Lets

see how this works for you. Do the spinal stretches. Go slow and be gentle! Pull

your practice of the Tibetans back to the first three. Keep the tongue up and

look up to the brow when you can do so for a time of however long you can hold

that as you are early in your practice of it. Drink water. Eat some watermelon,

EAT SOME WATERMELON, not shouting but sometimes people do not hear that or

don't do it and continue to suffer. Please keep me apprised of your progress-

Hi Claudia

The downward facing dog is when your hands and feet are on the floor and

your rear is pointing at the ceiling with your head hanging limply.

The upward facing dog is when your in sort of push up position with your

back arced and looking up at the ceiling.

I believe it is rite #5.

Love and Light;
