Thank you dear Katherine. Its always a joy to learn

more about each other. I lived in Florida for a while.

In fact I graduated High School from a town in central

Florida where they did all speak with a southern

accent. I had a great deal of trouble understanding my

english teacher! Her drawl was really something else.

And the slang, and phrases: " I might could " and

such...hahaha. What a time! So I know what you sound

like! Hug. Now, if you ever get a chance to hear a

real Maine accent, you're really in for a treat. And

I'm sure there are many more different ones in the

group!

Me crazy??? hahahaha I know...talking flowers. Well,

remember, its a meditation space and ANYTHING is

possible!

Good night dear one. Love, dhyana

I'm a native Floridian, too. I was born in Plant City (Hillsborough

Co.) 47 years ago. We were in the farm country rather than near the

beaches. Cattle and horses, strawberries and citrus. To this day, I

absolutely love the scent of orange blossoms! We moved to TN (north

central)when I was 8, where I spent the rest of my school years. Now I

live in AZ and am still surrounded by palm trees, citrus (just finished

the bloom season) and grow my own strawberries. I have some good

memories of FL. I lived in Boston for 3 years and lost a lot of my

accent because I was mocked for it and I'm a sensivite person so I

changed. Now and then the accent comes back, mostly when around my Mom,

who is a dyed-in-the-wool Southern girl from East TN.

Nice to meet another Southern belle.

Hi Valarie, it is a pleasure to meet you, another Southern Belle! Cool! I am

actually a native of South Carolina, but I live in Florida now. My husband is in

the Navy. Anyway, most of his career and our marriage we spent it in Kingsland

(St. Mary's) Georgia which is only about 11 miles from the Florida line and

other than living in GA and my kids going to school there we did everything else

in Florida. Last year in June my husband was transferred from GA to FL

officially and so here we are. I love the coast and the beach and the palms even

though SC had them. They were just not in the area where I lived. Now they are

every where. I love it down here in FL and hope that we can retire here, a great

place to live! As for the accent, many years ago, I was laughed at for my

southern accent. At the time It really bothered me and it actually hurt my

feelings when someone would say something to me about it, but after a while I

realized that not every one had the accent like I do

and so I started looking at it as a complement rather than an insult and that

others were just jealous they didn't have it and that is how I overcame it. I

love my accent even though I only hear it when I have been recorded, but I still

love it! Anyway, I love TN, have family there and so does my sister's husband. A

beautiful Southern State! Anyway, Nice to meet you Valarie.

Love,

Katherine

I am a southern girl, too, with a big accent. Born and raise in the

middle of the piney woods of East Texas. When we lived in N. Dakota

for a year, friends from a bible class I went to, would have me do

all the reading just so they could listen to my accent. Hehe!

Nice to meet you, too. Your post were sounding so familar to me, as

well. Someone mentioned Tenn. My husband is from there, very close to

the Carolina's. We have lived there for a while, too. A little town

called Chuckey. My husband has a great nack at picking up languages

and accents and is able to sound like he is from where ever he

happens to be. My two girls are also good at doing that, but me I

always stuck out like a sore thumb. We have done a lot of moving. I

have lived in 16 citys and 5 states. We have lived here in Victoria,

Tex. for 20 years now, the longest we've been in one spot.

Wow, you have moved more and lived more places than my husband and I have and he

has been in the Navy for 22 years and counting. I am like you I stick out like a

sore thumb as well because of my accent and I certainly can't change it at will!

Smiles! It was Valarie who said they lived in Tenn and my husband has family in

Knoxville and my sister's husband has family from TN also. Great place, very

beautiful! I hope you have a wonderful night!

Lots of Love,

Katherine
