As for the microphone, you should be able to purchase a sound card that you

can install into the computer. You need to check for what kind of " slots "

are in your computer - the most common is " PCI " , but you need to be sure of

what you have available so that the sound card will fit. After the sound

card is installed, and the drivers (software) is installed, you should be

able to record okay. Recording a long recording (over 60 seconds) will

require software not contained in Windows XP (or Win98, 95 or ME). So if

you decide you want to do this, let me know and I'll try to find something

that will work for you. The next thing you need to think about is what will

you do with this audio file once it's created. If you want to record on a

CD then you need a CDRW (a writable CD drive), which also is not expensive.

The only thing I'm curious about is how old is your computer? Most newer

computers have audio inputs and sound capabilities built in, and don't

require a sound-card. Most older computers would probably record audio to a

CD okay, but if you later wanted to work with video, and especially if you

wanted to record DVD's (which would require a DVD recording drive), you

would probably need to upgrade (buy a newer computer).
