Guest guest
Hello everyone, Thanks so much for all the love, healing and energy sent Brennan's way. Any more efforts would be vastly appreciated! He is doing much better, as you can see below from my sister Trixie's e-mail. He's interacting, doing homework, excited about soccer season coming up, sleeping well and just has lots more energy and is back to his normal self. I'm not sure what the future holds for him as regards to this illness. Lets hope and pray that the family is getting through whatever they need to learn from this, and that Brennan can stay well and healthy. Thanks again, peace be with you all. Bradly Hi, Brennan is doing much better now. He has been on anti-convulsant medication for a month now. He has not had any seizures for over a week and a half. He had a couple of unusual " dreams " that woke him that could have been seizure related but we are unsure. Regardless, he (and as a result, we) are sleeping much better now. He is much more like himself, offering to help at home, less fighting, depression is less or almost gone. The change is amazing. Two weeks ago he won a " Virtues " award for his class for empathy and showing kindness and compassion to others and this week he won an award for being " l'etoile de la semaine! " (student of the week). His teacher is so happy with his progress. We are still working on catching him up on work though. As to his medical condition, the pediatrician said he cannot confirm a diagnosis. It has to be the neurologist. I think we can " assume " that he does have Epilepsy because he has responded to the medicine so well and the seizures have stopped. He has complex partial seizures in the frontal lobe. We have not heard yet about results from the latest tests. The MRI came back normal so I am guessing that the problem causing the seizures (cortical dysplasia) is very small. Our next visit with the neurologist is in August so we cannot order Brennan a medic alert until the diagnosis is confirmed. The pediatrician said that he may out grow this condition but cannot say for sure. All the questions that we asked him we are to ask again in August at Sick Kids. He wants to know if he answered them right! Those of you who have seen Brennan lately will see a much happier boy in June at John's wedding. Thanks for all you happy thoughts and prayers. Love, Trixie (A medic alert is a special bracelet people wear to notify others of their condition in case of emergency. Sick Kids is the name of a big Kids hospital in Toronto. -Brad)
