Guest guest
Have seen several posts now that mention things that have been touched upon in science fiction. I have read hundreds of scifi books dating back to the late 60's, and a couple sort of parallel a few of these posts. Bob, you mention junk DNA, you might find Darwin's Radio by Greg Bear interesting reading. This is pretty current. While the book speculates on mitochondrial DNA, it is based upon what is being learned about this 'extra coding' in our DNA. Chronicles a massive genetic change in children, who exhibit entirely new ways of communicating, in addition to verbal. Sarita mentioned seeing something like a witch hunt. From an old old scifi book who's title is long forgotten, there was told a future tale of a day when exhibition of any sort of psychic abilities lead to a death sentence if I have it right. There was something of an underground railroad to help such people escape to a far off land inhabited by like folks. Telepathy was one of the main abilities featured. There was another post that brought to mind yet another scifi book, but it escapes me at the moment... And another scifi topic, one of the things that most attracted me to Star Trek, The Next Generation, was the repeated mention humans had moved beyond the need for money, and all were free to pursue their interests. That sure sounds like somewhere I wish I could live. Jon
