Poem about spiritual quest

I'd like to share a poem I wrote (actually, it's the

lyrics to a song I wrote). I wrote it in 1978. I was

29 and, although I had been raised in the Christian

tradition (Presbyterian), I was questioning 'what it

was all about.' It's interesting for me now to

reflect on that time, because I've learned and

experienced so much in the almost-30 years since then!

In fact, I now have the answers to my questions!

Questions (1978)

I long to know the meaning of the universe

how we came to be and who we are.

Is there a larger being with whom we can converse

or all we all alone upon the earth?

Is there a God out there in the great unknown,

guiding with his love the hand of fate?

Or must our destinies in the wind be blown...

never knowing where they will be sown?

Hey, out there...I'm calling,

listen to me please!

Give a sign...make it clear...

what should I believe?

I guess I'll go on living with a wondering soul,

living life without a reason why...

The answer to my questions will be my lifelong goal,

for if I knew my life would then be whole.

Blessings & love to all of us on our paths,

Claudia

Oh my gosh, Claudia!

That sounds exactly like what I was thinking and feeling..exactly what was on my

mind, when I was 13 and 14 years old.

I would pray much of the day, in tears..asking God to give me a sign that he

exists..because I felt like either he didn't know I was here because maybe I

wasn't planned and he didn't know I was here- or maybe I was supposed to die in

an accident but by some chance I missed my fate, and he didn't realize I was

still here. I am amazed, you always amaze me.

Claudia, my dear, that was fabulous! I love it! You wrote what is probably on

everyones mind at one time or another! Especially those who seek more

spiritually! When do I get a CD of you singing it? Hee, hee! Thank you for

sharing it with us all! What a perfect time for it!

Love,

Katherine
