Guest guest
I have been eating a lot of watermelon too, but $30 dollars worth in one week! Wow! That would be about 7 or 8 watermelons for me. LOL! Are the watermelons expensive where you live or are you eating that many? If my hubby wasn't home and me having to cook meals, I could handle just eating watermelon meals. Lucky you, Nicole! Guest guest
I'm in Ohio and my watermelon cost $5.99 And it's not that good (not very red inside)' ---- ntaroiu <lsirca wrote: > Yeah the watermelons here are 67c per lb and I live in ny.Ick! > > love,Nicole > > , " crazycats711 " > <crazycats711 wrote: > > > > I have been eating a lot of watermelon too, but $30 dollars worth > in > > one week! Guest guest
Great price for the whole watermelon !Too bad it's not red inside or sweet. The one I bought was very red and sweet.it was cut in like 1/4 of a watermelon and wrapped in plastic wrap so you can see it what you are getting and it's seedless too.I bought a whole watermelon once and it was kind of small for $9 and it wasn't too sweet or red so I guess $5.99 for a whole one in Ohio is really good. Guest guest
I buy mine serval days ahead of time from the time I will be cutting it. As it sets, it will get riper and sweeter. Mine only cost $3.99 and sometimes less. Guest guest
Nicole, In case you haven't heard this before...I will share with you what my sister in law taught me about buying a watermelon....she was from a place where they were grown. Thump them first...and listen for a low hollow sounding thump. Then when one is found...turn it over to make sure it has yellow on the bottom of it...this will show that it is ripe and full of water and flavor. Works for me.... Adina Now that's room service! Guest guest
I am glad you brought that up Adina. I meant to tell about that little trick and got side tracked. I always thump the melon before I buy. When I plan on eating it that day or the next I do get one with a low hollow sound. Guest guest
Yeah, I knew about this little trick , but it doesn't seem to work with the seedless watermelons. They just look the same and they are light green without any blemishes. I have not seen any of the other ones here. I buy the cut ones and the ones that have a deep red color.
