Guest guest
Please feel my intense gratitude to all of you for your many prayers!!! I wanted to share this email with you, you will be amazed. Remember, he was in home hospice care, on life support, not eating anymore, barely speaking, incredibly weak, and when lifted for bathing, by the nurses, his newly delicate skin would tear and bleed, or just ache incredibly. He didn't need pain meds except before bathing, and then he would need morphine, all the while he remained in good spirits. Many thanks, love and blessings to all of you and your families. After being confined to his bed for over a month and his room for two months, my dad made it downstairs last Wednesday! And because it was such a nice day, he wheeled himself around the deck without any assistance for quite some time. His sister, Lin, and her husband, King, and son Rider were here last week. They were able to help cheer him on as he experienced his new found freedom. When he felt the fresh breezes on his face, he said, " I missed spring but I'm so grateful that I'm not missing summer. " You can imagine the joy we all feel! Every day since, he's been able to come down and is visibly gaining strength. Just a little over a month ago, it looked as if we were going to lose him. But he has now come through the wilderness, as we call it (because it was close to 40 days), and is very much himself. Some call it a miracle; he calls it grace. Whatever it may be, we continue to be in awe of his unshakeable faith, his tenacity, his love of life, and his ability to meet and accept whatever faces him with such remarkable equilibrium. On this day in which we celebrate our fathers, I feel so honored to call him my dad and am deeply grateful to all of you who continue to surround us with your love, prayers, thoughts, and support. With much love and thanks, Alicia PS Thank you to everybody who has joined us in praying and meditating at 8 AM. Even when my dad was in the wilderness, he would say the Lord's prayer several times during the day. AOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at AOL.com.
