Guest guest
Hello everyone, I'm in a bit of a sharing mood today I suppose... I shared this story today with a friend. I will share it with you now. A few years ago when I first arrived in South Korea I decided it was time to get a cat. I found a wonderful Kitten in a little pet market in Seoul. He was great. I had my own apartment at the time and he loved running around getting into everything. He would jump up on my desk and insist on being petted when I was writing. He was a great purrer. He was the centre of attention whenever any friends came over. I bought one cat toy that he absolutely loved. It was one of the sticks with the string with the toy mouse on the end of the string. The mouse was stuffed with catnip though and this toy was the first taste of 'joy' that the kitten had ever had. To say he was a rambunctious kitten is a mild understatement, but when he got ahold of that catnippy mouse and sunk his teeth into it, he was a little terror. Just nutsy psycho kitten. So his 'joy' time was limited to short quantities. I had to keep the catnip mouse stick out of his reach, up on a wardrobe or whatnot. One morning I went out to play soccer, and then I had to teach some kindergarten classes at work. I came home at lunch and the kitten had some how gotten the toy out. I must have been careless with it. But he must have had the time of his life. Chewing it and flinging it about, dragging it here and there... But somehow through it all he had tangled the toy up on a chair. One with the metal rounded back and bars up the back. The toy had gone through the bars somehow. And he was hanging from the chair, hanging from the string of the toy tangled around his neck. His feet were just an inch or two above the floor. He had hung himself. I'm not joking. I had named him Houdini. Well it's not every day you come home at lunch to find that your cat has hung himself. I think if I'd been back 30 min earlier, or if I'd come back for a shower after soccer before work I could have stopped it. He was warm when I found him. Have you ever tried mouth to mouth resuscitation on a kitten? I have. I'm glad the expats here in Korea who know the story don't know that part. But I still am occasionally reminded here about being the guy who had the cat that killed himself... OH lol. Bitter sweet irony and some tears. Good night all, bradly

Guest guest
Oh Bradley! That is terrible. Who would have thought that you would have to watch a cat like you watch a small child? What a sad story. It' s good that you can discuss it with others. How long ago was this? Poor kitty.
