Guest guest
Dear Friends, As most of you know I have been volunteering in a local soup kitchen and recently I had a chance to help someone go home to be with his family. In my wildest dreams I never thought I would ever think to do something like that and not allow myself to be talked out it by someone. I went with what my heart told me and I will never regret it! It was such a wonderful feeling to be the person I have always known existed deep within me. In my reaching out to help Edgar, I witnessed another situation where I wish I could have been more of a help. The other day when I was waiting at that bus station with Edgar, a women who was 7 ½ months pregnant and her two children somewhere between the ages of 1 ½ years to 4 years old were dropped off by the boyfriend and abandoned. She and the children were half dressed. Her suitcases were sloppily packed. One of the suitcases wouldn't zip because it was broken and she could only take 3 out of the 4 she had with her. Those were all of her belongings. She had NO money for the tickets for the bus ride up to Pennsylvania and NO money for food for the kids. She was begging her mom who lives in Pennsylvania to wire money so she could feed the kids and had to beg her grandmother to pay for the two tickets she needed. She was sitting on the floor crying, trying to put all of her belongings into three of the four suitcases, trying to get her mom to wire money, and yelling at her kids who were running around ramped through the bus station. The largest suitcase was the one with the broken zipper and she had to get tape from a maintenance person to tape her suitcase closed. I helped her with her kids because she was just so upset and as I said she was trying to combine the suitcases and had all the clothes strung out on the floor. It wasn't a big deal to me. I broke my heart to see someone have to go through such an ordeal and although I don't know what transpired prior to her being dropped off at the bus station, NO ONE should have to go through that. After being a witness to all of the homeless and to this girl and her children in the bus station I asked God to please guide me in a way to help others who are less fortunate than I am in all aspects of life. So my thoughts are to somehow start a non appropriated fund organization for people who are homeless, disabled, or poor and to help them get back home to their family, food or other urgent matters. All I ask of you is to say a prayer asking God to please guide me in starting up this organization and getting it going strong to help others who are in need. To lead me to those who can help me! To find the volunteers needed to help me pull this off. If any of you would like to make suggestions I am opened to all. May God be with each of you! Thank you in advance for your prayers. Love, Katherine
