If sometimes I do not make sense, forgive me. I do not wish to be arguementive. I really do not have an opinion on the relationship between Kundalini and the Holy Spirit. I see Kundalini as an Eastern Term and Holy Spirit as an Western term. I have found that there are many concepts that do not easily translate from the West into Eastern terms and from the East to western terms. For example, western concept of " Ascended Master " , I do not know what this translates into in terms from India. Do " Ascended Masters " still wear bodies? Is an ascended Master same thing as an enlightened Guru? I do not know the answer to this. I have studied both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions and I try to put them together in my mind. I do feel confortable in all the churchs I have visited in my lifetime A friend of mine said to me as I visited his church, " You fit right in " . I can disagree with the Pastor and still support the Pastor and his role in the Church. I guess I was emoting somewhat to those who were attacking the rules of a Pastor in his Church. I visit many different churches and I do not even notice the rules. I just naturally do what is right, without the need for the rules. At the same time, I see the need for a Pastor to have some rules in his Church. You were right, I was emoting. Sorry about that. Henry ______________________________\ ____ Moody friends. Guest guest
I'm sorry Henry. I was one of those who said they found it hard obeying all those rules. Sometimes I say things with out giving much thought to rather it would offend someone. I am sorry you saw it as poking fun at churches, that was not my intension, although since you point it out I can see how others could take it as such. I would never over step a pastor of any church I attended and be so disrepectful. If I did not care for how the church was ran, I would just not go back. Also, I do not believe the Holy Spirit in me would impress upon me to do something that would be offensive to the pastor or leader of a church, either. Hehe! It was not the Holy Spirits leading that cause me to say what I said, that was my little i. I don't always have control of that little rascal. While we are on the subject of the egoic self, i believe it is that(the ego selves) which creates some of those speaking in tongues that is not of the Holy Spirit and is one reason for the need of decernment of the spirits and interpretations. I do feel that any church who allows the gift of tongues publicly, should have all the gifts in operation, but of course not all of them do, but that's none of my business either. I don't think that last half of the sentence was what I was going to say at the time, but my daughter called and talked for two hours and I don't remember what all I was going to say. There was more I was going to say, but it is late and I'm too tired to think. LOL! Linda , " Henry B. Ellak** " <henrybellak wrote: > > > > your thoughts on Paul or the bible. Guest guest
Hi Henery, My experience with the rules of the church comes from going pretty deeply into the institution of the church. As an Episcopalian in San Francisco, a priest and I started the SF jail ministry where we went into the jails, had a service and communion and then stayed around to talk. At first the jail would only let us bring in grape juice but eventually we were allowed consecrated wine. I went further and worked in the psych sections in the jail and also in the places where people were segregated either because they were to vulnerable for the general population or too dangerous. And, following a murderer, ended up in San Francisco General Hospital on the psych unit and the prison unit as a lay Chaplin. I also ran a free food program for the homeless, worked with inner city youth and gangs, and ex-cons coming out of jail and beginning to attend SF State University as well as the Aids clients starting from the time the disease was discovered. I knew, socialized with and respected many priests, the Dean of Grace Cathedral and the Bishop himself. (We once traded name tags at a large party that bored us both,,,,I was Bishop Swing for the evening. Some were not amused, but it was the Bishop's idea.) When I spoke to a few trusted priests about what was my emerging Kundalini experience (did not know the name yet...just was beginning to have symptoms) or about how my 3ed eye would heat up and throb in church, they did not know what to do with me and sort of said...we do not know....just be quiet, do your service work and do not tell anyone else. Eventually they said I might be a mystic, referred me to the writings of St. Augustine, but I never did find anyone who could help me or explain any of what I was going through. As I followed my intuition to be of service, I hit the edges of what was socially acceptable in the church also, such as talking about any sort of experience these revered men (and I am not being sarcastic here....I still respect and revere them) had not had themselves. And got deeply enough inside the politics of the church (was on my way to being nominated for Deacon school....stopped at sub-Deacon) to know I had to decide to be quiet about what was most important to me or to back up a bit in the church and just do the service things I was currently involved in. So I backed up. And moved to Texas, where I appeared at the local Episcopalian Church, ready, enthused and willing to serve the Lord and was told I could bake cakes, and maybe, eventually, run a bicycle race at the booth they supported at the local fair. If I was good....after awhile. I was a women in Texas. What a shock. So, I was not making fun at all about the rules of the church, just saying who I am and what my experiences were that stopped me from delving and participating too far within the depths of the church, and also that it made me sad. And at another church, ...the women in Texas searching for a spiritual home..... I encountered the rule that talking in tongues was only to be done once a month at a special service and not at any other times, during church or not. I to this day do not know why but suspect it had something to do with safety in their minds. I was allowed o talk in tongues in the Lakota sweat lodges I attended but did asked if what I was doing was OK or not. It was more whispering in tongues in the lodge. The Lakota thought it was fine and I was on my was to being a pipe bearer. So, I did not mean to offend anyone by reciting my experiences and, do speak only subjectively of what I, myself, have encountered in trying to interface with organized religion while waking up to the K and its possibilities..
