Guest guest
Thats exactly what i'm saying. Although i wouldn't say the ego " IS " the desire. The ego is much much more than that, a multi aspected beast and merely " creates " the desires. At least this has been my view... So why then does this Peace Pilgrim passage still " resonate nonetheless " ? What if we step back and consider the ego being based in fear we can see then how it seizes the opportunity (like a desperate addict) and jumps onto these baser desires / grosser instincts. In other words the ego is " controlled by " the desires being available like waving drugs under the nose of an addict. So we must cut off the supply so the conditioning can begin. Slowly rationality returns to the thought processes as the ego becomes wiser and evolves. This offers an alternative view that consolidates tolle's yours and my perspectives... Guest guest
Glen, I looked up the Peace Pilgrim passage and read the whole thing yesterday. She sure put her ego in the right place, under her high self control. Wow! I would have like to have known her. A strong lady she must have been. Steve, I'm just finishing up with Tolle's book, and have learned a lot from it. Thanks for recommending it. I agree with you guys!
