Guest guest
I know this might sound dumb, as I sometimes read too much into things.....but I've been wondering if recent happenings are omens. I went outside recently while chatting on the phone with a friend. When I asked her what she thought was going on with a person I'm sort of having a relationship of some sort with, I walked by a flower......and its head fell off. Not a petal. The entire head, intact. Also, part of the green stem came off, too, clean as a whistle, and it was a healthy looking flower, stem, etc. The next night, as I was outside on the darker end of the house (shaded more from street lamps), a bat came VERY close to my face. At least it seemed like it was very close. I think it dived towards it and pulled back before it hit. I've never had one do that before, but maybe it's more common than I know. I don't know if these things are omens, or just life. I could dismiss the bat as life, I suppose, but the flower still gets me. Plus, the fact that the bat happened the very next night....well, it just seems odd, but as I said, I read too much into things. I wonder, though, if the bat is my totem for the moment. As for bat totems, I have looked up some information about them. From what I gather, one of the main things it signifies is change and transformation. It's the end of something and the beggining of something else- or death and rebirth. It's like the Death card in the tarot, it seems like. Apparently, it also deals with confronting one's fears. I also read that it can signal a time of " awakening " or opportunity, and that it may have to do with avoiding barriers and getting around boundaries. Plus, I read that it can have to do with detecting hidden meanings in things. Also, the need for more sociability was noted. Words that showed up wit it were- change, rebirth, transition, initiation, secrets, opportunity, etc. However, it seems that death and rebirth, or transition and change, were the most common themes. Oh, that, and facing ones fears. Those were the two most common and most stressed themes, I think. It worries me. I know change doesn't have to be bad, but I can't help viewing it that way. I am afraid it will be a change I won't like. Also, the facing ones fears part, worries me. I said recently that I dislike September and it is already going bad. Saturday (the first) was kind of good, but kind of bad. Sunday was the same way, but things got pretty bad towards Sunday night, and were rather bad Monday, as well. I know things could be much worse, but I'm not feeling so hot. I know some problems started in August or even earlier, but things are coming to light more now that it is September, and September flat out worries me. Guest guest
Phantom, You have a habit of focusing on the negative or the hurtful. This will cause you difficulties if you try to walk this path. Nothing anyone says here is going to help you until you begin to help yourself out of this mindset. September isn't bad or August or any month of the year unless you decide it is going to be. Balance is what you may wish to achieve and you can do this by also recognizing the beauty and goodness in all things including bats and flower heads. It is just as likely that flower fell off because it was intended as a gift to you. But you chose to grow fearful instead. It is this choice we make every day " the glass is half empty or have full " and depending on what choice you make is how the day will go. I suggest that you take yourself away from pessimism and out of the dark bars and haunts of those who live life in depression. Away from addiction and into some laughter and love. I suggest that you walk in courage and confidence and give yourself some credit for being here alive and well. Self worth is also achieved by being happy. So be happy. -
Guest guest
Thanks for the reply, chrism. I do focus on the dark side, I am afraid. I used to be much worse for this, though, so at least I've improved somewhat, I suppose. I also agree that the flower might be a gift. I actually did think about that the other day, but the negative thinking took over and overshadowed it. During that time of thinking it might be a gift, however, I bent over and picked it up off the ground. I inspected it and took it inside. It is sitting near the computer, and it has dried now, but it didn't turn into a nasty looking, decaying lump like some do. It is keeping its color, and has dried into a pretty little white and pink thing, looking like colored paper mache, on the end of a green stem. It's cute. *smiles* Not very ominous looking, I will admit. As for thinking of months as " bad, " I don't know why, but I just seem to think September has it in for me and everyone that associates with me. Maybe it is a baseless fear, but it still worries me. It started in 2003. You know how they say that troubles come in threes? I don't know about threes specifically, but they do come in groups, it seems. Well, that year, there was one big HEAP of troubles crammed into a single month- September. Ever since that month, I notice really bad events in September. Maybe it's all coincidence and I just notice it because I'm looking for it. I don't know. Still, I much prefer viewing the flower as a gift, the bat as a messanger, and the message....as not necessarily bad. Guest guest
Dear phantom, I had a very dear friend who was also afraid of certain months. She was a survivor of ritual abuse. She passed on a few years ago. Listening to you reminded me of her. Do you know why September is not a good time for you?
