Ego

Ego is the problem according to many of the Eastern belief systems.

The big

issue. We must wipe out the ego, we must get rid of the ego. We must

do this and

that in order to advance, to the ego, or we will have problems. Self

denial,

self flagellation, exercises to rid us of the taint of ego. Yes I'm

simplifying.

I could go on and on.

 

Not everyone takes such a view toward the ego. I do not. The ego is

a part of

who I am as a person. I see him as a younger version of myself, a

perpetual

child , my inner child and I let him have his say. Sometimes. As I

would any

child.

 

The Huna religion (Polynesian) observes the ego as the first self,

the

uniheepeelee. The first self is given certain responsibilities and

is allowed to

complete them without hindrance from the Uhane, the second self, who

is trying

to become an Aumakua, or the high self.

 

The ego is spoken too gently as one would a child and rewarded and

loved. In

this way, we can advance with a loving and considerate approach to

ourselves

without the idea of something inside us needing to be excised or

controlled to

the point of obliteration.

 

Ego will learn and will follow instructions. I would suggest

treating him or

her with kindness and love allowing her to grow into the middle self

they wish

to become. As with kids you don't let them run rampant and you put

definite

limitations on their activities but you love them and they love you

for it.
