Yes Elektra, you are giving service to those around you by being yourself and

giving a helping hand when it is needed, showing those who are afraid of

foreigners that you are kind and gentle and willing to befriend them if given

the chance. I believe it is a great service you are doing and one day when more

it needed you will know. Way to go Elektra! Way to go!

Love,

Katherine

service

Recently I was talking with Katherine about service, and how I sometimes feel a

little hard pushed to find my niche for service living in a country where I do

not speak the local language makes it nearly impossible to find organisations or

to even offer help. Also, I am the money earner right now in my household so I

cannot just go off to tibet and help build greenhouses etc.

Feeling a little sad, I was thinking to myself, what am I doing here, I always

ask

God to show me where to serve.

In the past I have always been useful, helping others.

Then it hit me, I am in a country where most have never seen a foreigner, the

children that I speak or play with have been touched, the old person I smile at

or help through a doorway has been touched, every smile, every kind action helps

to bring down barriers.

The people here are a little afraid of white faces, or anything foreign.

Me and my friends are all pioneers, helping the new generation of Chinese grow

up with less racism and fear.

I guess that could be seen as service.

This thought made me feel a lot happier. :-))

Elektra, that is an excellent service...helping to break down barriers and show

the Chinese people you meet that white faces need not be feared! Keep sharing

that beautiful smile of yours!

Claudia
