SSRI's and an elderly person

I have a general question for the group regarding Aropax, a SSRI. I've

seen on this site where SSRI's are not recommended for someone seaking

Kundalini, but I have an elderly parent that I believe is suffering

from depression. My wife's mom went through this, and she is now happy

and loving life, after she started taking this medication. At 89, I

think it could hardly hurt my mom, but since I know that several people

on here have taken it, I thought I'd get some opinions.

Thanks..

Paul

If your mom needs medication and could benefit from it, then she

should absolutely take it. SSRIs may interfere with kundalini, but

there is no reason why a non-K person shouldn't take them. One size

doesn't fit all.

Okay thanks Sel - that is kind of what I thought - just didn't know of any

possible draw backs to it...

Thanks again.

Paul

Hi, Paul,

My first husband died, suddenly. I married again - too soon. After a

couple of years, I went into a depression. I decided that I needed

to " talk to somebody " . When a psychiatrist heard about my

Experiences, and noted that I was depressed, he gave me SSRIs.

Pronounced me - Bipolar ... Said that I indulged in " Magickal

Thinking " !!!

I tried several different SSRIs. They didn't help me. At one point,

I had to make notes in order to remember what I was supposed to

accomplish - each and every day. I was in a fog. All of

my " spiritual growth " went on Hold. I slowly lowered my dosage, and

got off of them. I knew that I wasn't " Bipolar " !!!

I never came across Aropax, and, I don't know what to advise you about

your mother. I just don't think that it's possible to take SSRIs, and

seek Kundalini at the same time. It " numbs " you too much, IMHO. I

think that your mom's " mental health " should take priority at this

time. Then, maybe, in a short time, she could seek ...

Love and Blessings,

Fenix

Thanks Fenix... well I don't want to introduce more issues, but depression

can really be debilitating - more so than I used to think. My mother in law

seems to be feeling great. Her family is thrilled. But knowing her, and her

age, it is probably a minimal dosage...

Thanks for your comments, and I'm glad you're better and off of them :-)

Many blessings..

Paul

Well, just like with any drug, there ARE possible side effects to

SRIIs. However, that's something you'll need to negotiate with a

physician rather than us sorcerers and wizards, LOL!

I do not approve of SSRIs at all. I believe the are mind toxins.

However at 89 quality of life takes over from quantity of life at

least that is how my caregiving clients and I would determine it. So

if your parent wants this and understands what is at stake and that

this may have side effects - informed consent in other words, then it

is up to them yes? - Just my take - chrism

Dear Paul -

As a physician, I can say that I have seen both ends of SSRIs. Some

people respond beautifully to them, but others go into a daze/brain

fog state and some become suicidal. My personal opinion us that the

risk/benefit ratio just does not justify their use and I personally

would not care to carry the legal liability for prescribing them. ALL

SSRIs alter neurotransmitter levels in the brain. Guess what though?

There are actually articles in the accepted medical literature to show

that meditation does also.

Much Love,

I think most people could benefit from a little alteration. :-) But I

understand what you mean about the risk/benefit ratio. I won't push for them

then. I guess prayer and healing intention will have to do.

Thanks Melissa, and I'm so happy you're making progress. We're all pulling for

you.

Many blessings...
