Guest guest
Dear All, Recently there have been times when I felt like giving up, times when I got so frustrated with myself I just wanted to give up trying, it seemed so hard, no end in sight. Feeling sorry for myself. But, I kept on doing the practice and kept on praying for guidance and help, I kept my faith alive (just about at times) that I would some day understand it all, the struggles, the pain. Then, suddenly, just when you feel like you are getting no where and that perhaps you never will fully heal the parts of yourself that need healing, BOOM, something just changes, enlightenment hits you, a way of looking at something changes and IT ALL MAKES SENSE. If everything had been done for me, if it had been handed to me on a plate the bliss would not be so wonderful, the joy I feel from having learned these things on my own merit and of course, with the wonderful guidance of all of you here, compares to nothing else. I am truely understanding this idea that the path is what is important. When I look at my life now I just see symbols, symbolic episodes to remind me of who I am and where I am going. Getting a free lunch would be like having the best bar of chocolate in the world, letting someone else eat it for you and tell you what it was like , and then just have the full up feeling in your stomach without having any of the process of eating it and savouring it's sweet flavour. Where is the fun in that? The path may be long but it is character building, strengthening, uplifting, purifying, exciting, infact, forget adventure holidays, this is the adventure of your life. Guest guest
Oh boy! That chocolate bar analogy is brilliant Elektra! The journey is as important as the destination imho. If we are placed on top of a mountain, what benefit do we receive from that? We don't know how we got up it, therefore we have no idea how to climb down. We certainly couldn't help anyone else get up the mountain because we did nothing to deserve where we are and have no " experience " to draw from in giving advice. Enlightenment can't be given, we have to go through many experiences to understand how we got where we are and why.
