Guest guest
Our Kali also goes by the name of Selena. She devours college students who fail her exams. Here is a breif discription of Kali. http://hinduism.about.com/library/weekly/aa051202a.htm Kali is the fearful and ferocious form of the mother goddess Durga. She assumed the form of a powerful goddess and became popular with the composition of the Devi Mahatmya, a text of the 5th - 6th century AD. Here she is depicted as having born from the brow of Goddess Durga during one of her battles with the evil forces. As the legend goes, in the battle, Kali was so much involved in the killing spree that she got carried away and began destroying everything in sight. To stop her, Lord Shiva threw himself under her feet. Shocked at this sight, Kali stuck out her tongue in astonishment, and put an end to her homicidal rampage. Hence the common image of Kali shows her in her mêlée mood, standing with one foot on Shiva's chest, with her enormous tongue stuck out. , " M. Guest guest
If i may add, all the Hindu gods and godesses are just symbols. There is only one God, whose creative aspect is called Brahma, maintenance aspect is called Vishnu, Destructive aspect Shiva. There is only one God and every thing in this world is His manifestation. Kalam in Sanskrit, is time. Kali is the mother of time. Kalan is the God of death. Kundalini is called a Godess and given hundreds of names. Yogini, Dakini, Sarveswari , Sankari, Srikari . . . . etc. are examples. Here are a few names of Godess Kundalini with explanation. " Manonmani = . . She is the mind in the Unmani state, the state in which the sense of space, time and the subject-object relationship is completely lost and the mind becomes thoughtless in Yoga " " Sadgatiprada = . . . She leads the devotees to the highest status or reality, which is Herself " . Regards Venugopal chrism <> wrote: Our Kali also goes by the name of Selena. Guest guest
LOL! That is funny! I had been wondering what you have been meaning about this Kali. You have mentioned her several times. I just caught on yesterday. Hehe! I guess I should have ask, like Cuneyt did, instead of doing all that wondering. Linda , " chrism " <> wrote: > > Our Kali also goes by the name of Selena. Guest guest
Dear and Venugopal, I just was wandering if is there any special meaning or utilization of it. So we don't have any business with Kali (except Dear Selena). My belief system is also monotheist and pantheist. There are expressions traditionally differentiated by time and space. Some adjectives are used for us to understand the God. Sometimes I need to clarify cross-culturally what is the meanings of the symbols used.
