Guest guest
Hello everyone of you Wonderful beings - I have not watched television in a very long time. I have noticed my lack of watching the tube has brought me in a state of deeper contemplation of other things that are more important to me. I remember those days where I'd get engrossed with a television drama, whether it was a cop show, comedy show, and the news. Sometimes it seemed such drama would spill into my day. I became uninterested in television when I kept seeing how some those " comedy " shows were funny at the expense of someone or someones innocent experience and I began not finding them funny anymore. Don't give me wrong 3rd Rock from the Sun was pretty funny! Poor Dick, he always tried so hard! What ever happened to the Carol Burnett Show and her Gone with the Wind Skit? Yes, I am old, not quite weathered but old! Many times as I watched serious drama I was left empty, like the show not only brought in the drama but took with it something too, a piece of my natural inner joy. I see why has it as part of the Safeties and I had no problem going along with that. I find I have more control in reading the newspaper, if I want to find out what's news in this Earth, there's no I will tell you what I want to tell you which I am witholding till you watch what we are trying to sell you....to much drama. It used to irk me, " hey! don't go, I want to know now! Hell with that! I realized there's no hurry to really know, and sometimes what the papers have to say, well, I rather read Peanuts! Have a wonderful sleep, and a terrific day tomorrow! Loads of undramatic Love, Becky Be a better sports nut! Let your teams follow you with Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
Hi Becky, I hardly watch telly anyway and when my aunt ask me to watch the news of a disaster that happened in another city or country, I would rather not watch it. I stopped reading the newspaper too - like the Red Eye that is being given out at the train station every morning on my way to school. The guy who gives it out already knows when he sees me not to give me one. LOL. I noticed that I have drifted apart from my old group of friends. I am meeting more or reconnecting with like minded friends. Guest guest
Hi Becky - I too, am burned out on the tube. I used to be a " Days of Our Lives " addict and watched nighttime sitcoms as well. Something happened, I don't know what . . . . I just realized how stupid it is to spend all that time in front of the tube. Now I just occaisionally turn it on to the news because we have funky weather / tornadoes in Oklahoma. Otherwise, it stays off. Much Love, Melissa , Becky Jean Rich <beckyjeanrich wrote: > > Hello everyone of you Wonderful beings - > I have not watched television in a very long time. Guest guest
All of you sound like me! The older I get the less I even WANT to watch the " Boob-tube " (that's boob as in dumbie not the other thing, female body part...LOL). I think one day as I sat watching an hour of absolutely senseless rubbish I sort of saw myself as if I were another person looking at me and I was pretty disgusted with what I saw. Yes, a waste of precious time and brain cells. I watch the news with my husband (though that is reaching the threshold of disgust as well) and the occassional kiddie show or movie with my daughter. But my weakness is the internet now and I'm thinking I need to see myself outside myself again to get a bit of my life back!!! And there is SO much out there to do, house-work, errands, service to others, you know... If TV were a truly educational tool or told the truth once in a while I might watch it again but...nahhhh, that ain't gonna happen. Hey, Becky, I remember the Carol Burnett show and that " Gone with the Wind " skit! That was good clean fun. I also remember Red Skelton, Jackie Gleason and Ed Sullivan...now I'm dating myself! Milton Beryl was a little before my time, though I saw some reruns. LOL Love, till next time (with a little tug on the ear!) Valarie
Guest guest
I have never cared for TV or just never had the time for it. As a kid about the only show I ever watched was American Bandstand. I would come on every day just as we got home from school. My sister and I would dance with those people for an hour, eat super and do our homework and go to bed. I would hear those show you mentioned Valarie, for my dad watched them all. I was a weird kid. I loved doing school homework and would help my brothers and sisters with theirs, as well as doing mine. LOL! A lot of times I did theirs for them so they could go watch TV. I guess that was not a good thing, for them anyways. Once I got married and had my kids, I never had any time for TV then either. I just never got into it much, except to watch an occssional movie once in a while. Even then I would have to be doing something else while watching, like sewing or crocheting. Guest guest
Ahhhh My Little Sister! I too have fled from the TV and video's. My first choice is the Comics section of the paper everyday...religiously! A good laugh before the rest of the bad news in the paper...kind of like a " spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go downnnn, medicine go down, medicine go down. Everyone join in... " Just a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine....or maybe just a spoon full of love makes the world go round, the world go round! Okay...I'll stop singing! Love you all! Guest guest
Okay I admit...I LOVE Smallville...the Superboy story...Clark always comes to the rescue and Lana always bangs her head. She must have so many scars!!! I watch every week...pretty much the only thing I watch. Because I always know there will be a happy ending with good morals applied. I wonder if Clark has the K?!?!?! No not Kyptonite!! Love Scott
