My practice

When I started to do a practice it was in response to the guidance of

the Kundalini though at the time I didn't know this was the case. I

just knew that to proceed I had to do certain things. The energy did

respond to these practices in a positive way.

It was not easy fitting them into my pursuit of entertainment

distractions or romantic distractions (lust) or the many other

distractions that I based what I considered my meaningful life upon. I

found the yearning to move into these spiritual physical areas to be

stronger than any of the other ways that I spent my time.

Yes I had people who depended on me. But that didn't stop me from

pursuing my other interests so I knew I could find a way to answer

these urges. At one point I vowed to meditate every day for a year.

I was a property manager at the time and lived on the site that I

managed and out behind a house at the edge of the property was an old

shed. It was very dark in this old shed and full of black widow

spiders quite poisonous. This became my meditation shed. For the next

year I would come in at about the same time each day typically the

late afternoon about four o'clock and meditate for as long as I could.

Neither cold nor heat nor wind or rain stopped me from this commitment.

I didn't have knowledge of any mantras or any kind of formal training.

I just made up one that I felt would work for me and it did. This is

the one mantra that worked for me.

" I am at one with the all that I am at one with the all that I am at

one with the all that I am at one with the all that I am at one with

the all that I am.... "

It overlaps itself. This I did for almost the entire year though the

meditations did go for the entire year, it just took some time for

that mantra to come. I did this with out fail and made the time needed

for this to occur. The Black Widows were my witness and not once was I

bothered by them.

After a time I added another job in addition to the property

management. I became a care giver for the father of a friend. This

pushed me into many of the activities of the safeties as they are

given to this day and I practiced them with out knowing why but I

practiced them.

Forgiveness and gratitude, helpfulness and restraint. Consideration

and kindness and love and loyalty, trust and compassion are all part

of that job. These qualities were forced upon me at times and gently

gifted at other times. But they were part of my early Kundalini

experience. I found the Kundalini would grow stronger as these

qualities were consistently expressed.

As the gentleman slowly glided towards his transition. I found myself

in prayer and meditation five times a day. The Tibetans would be done

twice a day. This began to occur every day and I wouldn't miss it for

anything. The safeties work. But you must work them. It isn't too much

to start and it fits in well with the life plans of most people. Even

those with families.

These events took place seventeen years ago and brought such an

explosion and wealth of understanding and wisdom and knowledge that I

am still in awe of what occurred and continues to occur to this very

day. -

Thanks Chrism, pretty much sums up what I am going through minus the

vow. I think I am going to take one too. It has to begin at one time

or the other and this is the time. My only problem is that I work in

shifts which means that one shift only continues for about a month and

after that its a new shift which means that i cannot set aside one

time for myself even if i wanted too. Maybe time to change my job?

Probably not at this juncture in life where i desperately need the

money. I guess my practice will have to change with my shift so i'll

sketch up a routine and the time on the clock can change.

About the mantra that you choose. Its no coincidence that you choose

it. If you see carefully one of the words that you choose " I am " is

actually AIM or the Beej mantra of Saraswati, the Goddess of Knowledge

so in case you felt that you did not have much knowledge about

Kundalini, the mantra you choose empowered you about the same. It gave

you the wisdom and the understanding of what was happening and what

was to come. At least this is how I understand it.

I think you have pointed me in the right direction. Thank you so much.

I just re-read this chrism... Thanks as always for posting - I hope that there

will come a time when I (as well as all the others here), can have the same

positive effect on " perfect strangers " as our lives continue.

Many blessings...

Paul
