Guest guest
Hi Lori, Welcome to the group. Sounds like your solar current (pingala) is too strong; this scenario usually takes a toll on the lunar (ida), and throws the whole energy body out of whack (hence the spasms). Are you doing the safeties consistently? Also, you may want to try and practice alternate nostril breathing (AKA nadi shodanam--if you are into yoga you know what that is) for the sake of harmonizing your ida and pingala. Guest guest
Hi Selena; Thank you for the advice. I have been practicing the alternate nostril breathing each day. I cycle about 15 times per side. I always begin with an exhale on the right. Should I do more? Should I switch which side I begin on? Also I am not sure which side the pingala is located, but I have many more sensations on my left side during the day and evening, including a sore spot inside my left nostril close to the tip. The jolts always happen when I am laying on my right side, and flip me unto my back. This flip is quite dramatic and there is no way I could ever even think about stopping it. LOL After the flip, I get an additional push on my back close to my right shoulder area which pushes me over further to the left side and into the bed. Is this because the right side is less active? I am doing the safeties each day, but am having many problems with the spinning. I am extremely sensitive to dizziness. (any spinning amusement park rides totally incapacitate me) When I first began the Tibetans, I circled 7 times and almost passed out. I had to lay down and was nauseated for 3-4 hours. (not kidding) So I have decreased to 1 spin only. I stop, regain my composure, then spin again....for a total of 7 individual spins. I know that is probably too little, but I can not function with more right now. I do the other Tibetans without a problem. Any other suggestions about the meditation or yoga? Am I doing something wrong to promote this lopsidedness? Thank you, Lori selena230 <selena230 wrote: Hi Lori, Welcome to the group. Guest guest
If I understand it correctly, it sounds like your right side is more active than your left. Do you get any visuals with your jolts? If that is the case, perhaps breathing through the left nostril while blocking the right one might help... Guest guest
Sorry if I have confused you. The nightly sensations (mild tingling and tickling) began on the left side of my body a few weeks ago. Now the right side seems to be in hyper-mode with all the flipping and flopping around I am doing. I have not noticed any visuals yet, but will pay close attention the next time it happens. (I might have had some that I overlooked due to the confussion and shock of having a jolt.) My thoughts are jumbled right now. Guest guest
ok, if the right side is hyperactive, try breathing through the left nostril. Do it for a few days in a row, and see what happens. You could also add the visualization of harmonious lunar (silver) and solar (gold) flows in and out of your lungs as you do the nadi shodanam. Last but not least, you can try and engage your right brain hemisphere more closely (through creative thinking and activities, drawing, crafts, music, etc).
